Standout Performers

Yuvraj Singh Returns to Form
Despite being the most expensive acquisition for any side prior to this competition getting underway, it’d be fair to say the Delhi Daredevils have not gotten value for money when it comes to Yuvraj Singh.
But the popular India international turned in his best performance of the tournament so far, making a useful 57 from 44 balls to help Delhi to a total of 152 for six against Mumbai. It was a knock that showed signs of a return to form for Yuvraj, especially the two towering sixes he struck.
As noted by Cricket Record, he’s one of the most prolific six-hitters in IPL history:
"200* sixes for Yuvraj Singh in T20s, the 3rd Indian after Suresh Raina (220) and Rohit Sharma (206) to hit 200 sixes in T20 matches. #IPL
"
If Delhi are going to make the playoffs this season, the impact of Yuvraj is going to be so important. While the Daredevils have an array of quality bowling options, their batting isn’t as strong as that of a lot of other sides involved in the competition.
But if Yuvraj can come in and play with the kind of poise and power he showcased here, then it gives this team a completely different edge. At his very best, the India international is one of the most destructive players around, and if he finds his groove for a few overs in the final embers, he has the talent to make a decisive impact for Delhi.
Ambati Rayudu, Kieron Pollard Win It for Mumbai
The Mumbai Indians were staring defeat squarely in the face as they lost four wickets in the opening seven overs, but a magnificent inning from Ambati Rayudu hauled them over the line in this thrilling contest.
Rayudu was the picture of composure during his time at the crease, beginning his knock slowly before upping the ante with a measure of class once Rohit Sharma departed.
Eventually, he finished up unbeaten on 49 alongside the excellent Kieron Pollard, whose ability to strike the ball for six was imperative at the end of the match; the West Indies star also finished unbeaten, hammering 26 from just 14 balls.
HoldingWilleyCricket paid tribute to Rayudu’s knock:
"#MI win by 5 wickets, despite losing 4 wickets in the 6 overs powerplay. All credit goes to Rayudu for an excellent innings. #MIvsDD
"
After being in such massive trouble early on, this win was a real bonus for Mumbai. The poise showcased by these two men in the heat of a tense chase was so impressive, and if the Indians do eventually make it into the playoffs, this thrilling finish will be excellent experience to draw upon.
