Tiger Woods at Players Championship 2015: Top Comments from Press Conference
Tiger Woods is set to make his return to competitive action this week in the 2015 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, and the 14-time major champion covered a wide range of topics in his pre-tournament press conference Tuesday, including his Masters performance and his breakup with Lindsey Vonn.
Woods' last tournament was the Masters in April, where he fought his way into fifth place heading into the final round before finishing 17th. He suffered a wrist injury during Sunday action at Augusta but was able to finish the round and had nearly a month to fully recover.
His relationship with skier Lindsey Vonn also came to an end during his layoff, with both athletes saying it was a mutual decision in a Facebook post and a message on Woods' website (via CNN.com).
Golf Channel's Tiger Tracker passed along Woods' remarks about the breakup, which came during an already difficult time of his life:
As far as Woods' performance on the golf course, Dan Hauser of Country Clubs in Florida noted that the two-time Players winner rested his wrist for a week after the injury at the Masters:
Now, he's healthy and ready to roll again, per Golf Central:
While Woods might be healthy, ESPN.com's Jason Sobel noted that he struggled during his practice round Tuesday, saying, "Woods looked rusty in his early-morning practice round, enduring a two-way miss that led to a few lost balls."
There were questions heading into the Masters about his level of play. He was returning from another extended absence as he tried to fix a game that had gotten out of whack. His play around the greens was particularly troublesome during the early stages of 2015.
For the most part, he exceeded expectations at Augusta. Getting back into championship form is still an ongoing process, though.
Kelly Tilghman of Golf Channel highlighted how Woods said he's still working on tweaks to rediscover top form:
"Tiger Woods says he'd like to think he can build on Masters momentum. He's had good practice sessions & a few swing tweaks in interim.

Sean Martin of PGATour.com provided further context:
Tiger Tracker also noted the fan favorite's plan to ramp up his schedule now that he's healthy:
Then Brent Martineau of CBS Jacksonville pointed out Woods' discussion about this week's course before highlighting the end of the presser:
The long gaps between tournaments make it difficult to know what to expect from Woods. There are often flashes of the dominant player he once was, like during his charge up the leaderboard at the Masters, but putting four strong rounds together remains problematic.
Perhaps the more active schedule he's about to start can help him get back on track. Of course, that also means he'll need to play more often without any injury setbacks. So there are more questions than answers heading into The Players Championship.
One thing's for sure: The vibe around a tournament is completely different when Woods is around.
