Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Fight: Highlights, Reaction and Replay Viewing Details

Rory MarsdenMay 5, 2015

Floyd Mayweather kept his undefeated record intact on Saturday night as he produced a tactical masterclass to beat Manny Pacquiao in their hotly anticipated fight in Las Vegas.

Mayweather was incessantly elusive as he ducked and swerved away from Pacquiao, keeping out of harm's way for the majority of the 12 rounds.

Landing several of his own punches with his jab and straight right hand, Money was eventually awarded a deserved unanimous-decision victory to take his record to 48-0.

HBO Boxing provided the scores:

It was a convincing, if unspectacular victory, worth seeing simply for Mayweather's sharpness and Pacquiao's inability to land telling combinations.

ESPN.com's Dan Rafael provides details of where to catch the replay for those who didn't watch the pay-per-view broadcast:

Surprisingly for many, the historically more-aggressive Pacquiao was not the fighter who started the faster on Saturday.

Indeed, Mayweather had much the better of the opening exchanges, landing a handful of telling right hands in the first two rounds.

Pac-Man came into the fight in Round 3, and landed the bout's most eye-catching hit on Mayweather in the fourth, rocking the American back onto the ropes with a powerful left hand. Business Insider shared a photo of the exchange:

The 36-year-old Pacquiao landed heavily on Mayweather again in the sixth, but that was effectively his last telling blow.

For the second half of the fight, Money darted and skipped around the ring, staying out of his Filipino opponent's reach and orchestrating the pace of the fight.

Pacquiao looked to tire somewhat, and Mayweather landed numerous jabs as the fight wore on, per HBO Boxing:

Pac-Man looked spent by the end of the fight as he took further hits, with the result only going one way. Mayweather raised a hand in triumph just before the final bell, and his assumption was proved correct.

Pacquiao was convincingly outboxed, and though he arguably landed the bigger blows in the fight, Mayweather was accurate far more often.

Pac-Man claimed after the bout that he felt he had done enough to win, per Top Rank Boxing:

It was also revealed after the proceedings at the MGM Grand Garden Arena that Pacquiao took a right shoulder injury into the ring, thus restricting his power and movement, per BBC Sport's Ben Dirs

Mayweather's display was impressive, but after all the hype which had promised blistering action, it was an underwhelming spectacle in the end, a feeling echoed by former world champion Mike Tyson:

However, there was much admiration for Mayweather's performance and how he went about nullifying the Pacquiao threat. Four-time world champion Carl Froch was particularly impressed:

Control was the name of the game for Mayweather, and he executed his plan to perfection. He is unlikely now to surrender his unbeaten status before his imminent retirement.

Pacquiao was supposed to be the man capable of troubling Mayweather and perhaps sending him to the mat. It turned out not to be the case, as Mayweather ran out as a convincing winner.
