Deon Simon to New York Jets: Full Draft-Pick Breakdown
The New York Jets didn't do anything flashy with their final pick in the 2015 NFL draft, bringing in small-school nose tackle Deon Simon into an already-crowded defensive front.
Gang Green traded one of its two seventh-round selections as part of a deal for Rams running back Zac Stacy, which filled its last gaping hole ahead of the 2015 season.
The trade brought in a talented backfield talent to complement Chris Ivory and Stevan Ridley in the running game, but it left New York with just six picks in the draft.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Deon Simon was probably one of the least known players in this year's class, as he came from Northwestern State and received very little attention from mainstream draft analysts.
Simon doesn't boast the upside of Gang Green's other selections, and there is very little chance he becomes a key contributor in the next few years for Todd Bowles and Co.
Simon lacks the necessary quickness and athleticism to make an impact at the NFL level, and he is often a non-factor in the pass-rushing department. He also struggles to move around the field, and his motor is inconsistent at best.
However, the small-school product does have some physical tools that make him an intriguing prospect. He possesses a big frame that is hard for opposing offensive linemen to move, and he has the power to dominate weaker opposition in the trenches. Simon also knows how to use his size and hands to his advantage; and he could emerge as a strong run-stopper at the NFL-level if he develops other parts of his game.
The nose tackle needs to make some significant improvements to his game if he is going to make an impact for Gang Green, and his lack of athleticism limits his capabilities. However, he could provide some decent depth behind the elite defensive line foursome of Muhammad Wilkerson, Sheldon Richardson, Damon Harrison and new addition Leonard Williams.
Many fans will question why Gang Green decided to pick another defensive lineman, as it has more obvious holes throughout the offensive line and at safety and outside linebacker. However, Mike Maccagnan has preached taking the best available player, and he probably believes Simon was that guy this late in the draft.
It's hard to doubt Maccagnan and the new regime after the offseason the Jets have had, but the Simon selection does raise some eyebrows, even if it is a low-risk selection.
