Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Odds: Latest Vegas Lines, Predictions for Megafight
The oddsmakers are finalising their Vegas lines for the upcoming megafight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday, and as expected, the undefeated, pound-for-pound king will enter the ring as the slight favourite.
Odds Shark has collected full odds for every possible outcome, as well as round-by round odds, giving fans some idea of how the experts believe the fight will play out. But with two of the greatest fighters of the past decade facing off, anything is possible.
This is a bout years in the making, with plenty of bad blood between two fighters who will do battle for the right to call themselves the greatest boxer of their generation. With so much at stake, it becomes almost impossible to predict how the fighters will act over the course of a potential 12-round bout.
Here are the latest odds for Saturday's main event:
| Mayweather Win (KO, TKO, DQ) | +600 | 6/1 |
| Mayweather Win (Decision) | -130 | 77/100 |
| Pacquiao Win (KO, TKO, DQ) | +400 | 4/1 |
| Pacquiao Win (Decision) | +375 | 15/4 |
| Draw | +1000 | 10/1 |
| 1 | 33/1 | 33/1 |
| 2 | 40/1 | 40/1 |
| 3 | 40/1 | 40/1 |
| 4 | 40/1 | 40/1 |
| 5 | 40/1 | 50/1 |
| 6 | 40/1 | 50/1 |
| 7 | 40/1 | 40/1 |
| 8 | 40/1 | 40/1 |
| 9 | 40/1 | 40/1 |
| 10 | 40/1 | 33/1 |
| 11 | 40/1 | 33/1 |
| 12 | 50/1 | 33/1 |
Here is boxing legend George Foreman's prediction:
That's right: Foreman believes we still won't know whose the better fighter after Saturday's bout, and he's not the only one. British boxer Carl Frampton has the same idea:
Even Odds Shark (10/1) isn't ruling out the possibility. Neither fighter has been much of a knockout artist in the past few years, and while Mayweather has always emerged from the cards as the victor, there are reasons to believe this time could be different.
Money has built a phenomenal career as one of the best defensive fighters we've ever seen, but in recent years, that defence has somewhat slipped, as explained by CompuBox's Bob Canobbio:
He's become a more static target, particularly closer to the ropes, and where once he was damn near impossible to hit, that is no longer the case. His head movement is still top notch, but his 38-year-old legs can't always stay in motion for the full 12 rounds.
Coupled with Pacquiao's phenomenal hand speed and his tendency to throw lengthy combinations, it's very possible the Filipino slugger will land significant punches early and often. Freddie Roach, Pac-Man's trainer, believes Mayweather knows he's in for the battle of his life, via Betfred:
Of course, that's what he has to say. The suggestion Mayweather somehow fears Pacquiao is ludicrous: This man has never lost a fight before, and his confidence has to be as high as ever. But pundits still noticed he has looked particularly nervous leading up to this fight, as shared by the Guardian:
Mayweather has dominated the cards for over a decade, and if the fight goes the distance, he should be the favourite to win the bout. But don't be shocked if the margin of victory is very close, or the judges go with a draw―and a lucrative rematch.
Former NBA star Chris Webber has an entirely different opinion:
If history has taught us anything, it's that Mayweather is often at his very best when we doubt him the most. Perhaps the finest example of this was his utter demolition of Juan Manuel Marquez, in his first fight after a lengthy sabbatical:
Mind you, this is the same Marquez who gave Pacquiao all he could handle for three fights and knocked him out the fourth time they fought.
Marquez just couldn't cope with Mayweather's raw speed and size, and Money has the same advantage in reach over Pacquiao. Sure, the Filipino relies more on hand speed and less on raw power than Marquez, but he has a similar attacking style and similar disadvantages.
Prediction
All things considered, you have to say Vegas seems to have the right ideas for this fight. Mayweather by decision is the expected outcome and appears to be the safest prediction.
