Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Freddie Roach Reveals Floyd Protest Against Manny's Cup
Freddie Roach has suggested the Nevada State Athletic Commission was forced to inspect Manny Pacquiao's cup ahead of Saturday's fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. after Pretty Boy's camp made a complaint.
Roach, Pac-Man's long-time trainer, believes Mayweather's camp should focus on finalising their own preparations for the MGM Grand bout, reported by Jeff Powell of the MailOnline:
"They made a protest about Manny's cup. They came to training this week, inspected it and approved it. The commissioner marked it and signed it to make sure it's the one he's wearing on the night. But it's the regular cup.
As for the gloves, the commission have approved our gloves but they say theirs are not ready yet! I will be the one in their dressing room watching them wrap Floyd's hands.
"

Wednesday's press conference pitted the two fighters head-to-head for the final time before they step into the ring. Those looking for a ruckus, or at least some drama before the main event were left bitterly disappointed.
Both Mayweather and Pacquiao spoke respectfully about the other fighter, providing short statements which lost their impact in-between the sponsor guff and hyperbole from either side's promotional teams. Roach picked up on Mayweather's unwillingness to sound too enthusiastic about the fight and questioned whether Money has the guts to face his man.
"I don't know why Floyd has gone quiet for this fight," said Roach, per Powell. "I really am wondering if he's going to turn up on the night. His speech is very low-key. Subdued. I don't think any fighter is afraid but I don't think he wanted this fight. He was forced into a fight he didn't want to take."

Floyd Mayweather Sr. combated Roach's assertions with a rhyme, reported by Powell: "Floyd's the man to meet, if you wanna get beat." He continued, "He's The Joke Coach Roach." Powell provided further comment from Mayweather Sr: "This will be a one-sided fight. Floyd will simply walk him down. And by the way forget all that about Pacquiao's power. He can't punch."
Roach recently told Bleacher Report's Stephen Nelson exactly why Pacquiao will emerge victorious:
Juan Manuel Marquez, the only man to knock Pacquiao out, believes Mayweather will take the plaudits, per Audioboom:
Roach is correct in suggesting Mayweather's exchanges with the press have remained low-key. The man himself is ready to put on a show, though, per Audioboom:
Perhaps the unbeaten fighter is more focused than ever on getting the win. Maybe he's nervous. It was rammed home during Wednesday's presser that the talking has been done and these two just need to step into the ring and fight.
Despite being expected to lose by many, Pacquiao appeared mightily relaxed during Wednesday's media meet. He isn't the type of fighter to be irked by minor annoyances, such as having his cup inspected, and will be confident of proving his underdog status wrong on Saturday night.
