WWE NXT Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from April 29

Erik BeastonApr 30, 2015

For Sami Zayn, 2015 has been a devastating year.

He lost the NXT Championship, suffered a head injury during the contest and has been repeatedly tormented by former friend-turned-bitter enemy Kevin Owens.

Thanks to the ruling made by general manager William Regal Thursday night, coupled with some well-timed mind games from Zayn himself, he has the opportunity to make up for all of the disappointment he may have endured over the first five months of the year, when he challenges Owens for the NXT title at the upcoming Takeover event.

Wednesday night, he was not only granted the championship rematch he deserves, but he battled Alex Riley in the night's main event.

While Owens may have attacked him, thus ending his night on a sour note, Zayn can rest peacefully knowing he goaded his former tag team partner into accepting a match he did not want by questioning his reputation and threatening his ego, finally showing cracks in Owens' psyche.

The most popular star on the brand was easily the biggest winner of the night, but was joined by some other staples of NXT.

Who were they, and which Superstars were not so lucky, ending up on the opposite spectrum as the biggest losers from the April 29 episode?

Winners: Enzo Amore and Big Cass

Big Cass and Enzo Amore were officially cemented as the top contenders to NXT Tag Team champions Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy Wednesday night by way of their victory over the duo in a non-title match.

After years as one of the most popular acts in the entire brand, they now are just one step away from having something to show for their hard work and determination, that being the coveted titles that have thus far eluded them.

Add to that the fact it appears as though Carmella is loyal to them, providing the distraction that allowed the babyfaces to pick up the win Wednesday night, and you have a team that is rolling heading into Takeover.

Of course, that could all change if Carmella proves more deceptive than imagined, but for now, the certified Gs and bona fide studs are riding a wave of momentum leading into the next live special.

Loser: Dana Brooke

Sure, Dana Brooke picked up her second win in as many matches in NXT but by the end of the bout, she was largely an afterthought, an extra in the ongoing rivalry between Bayley and Emma.

When one takes into account she did not look mightily impressive in her win as she continues to learn the mat game, you get had an off-night for Miss Brooke.

For the second consecutive in-ring appearance, she showed enough to suggest she will evolve into a solid performer, favoring a power-based offense that works given her sculpted physique, but this week's offering did nothing for her at a time when it would seem as though the brand would want to focus heavily on her while introducing her to the fanbase.

Winner: Becky Lynch

The No. 1 contender to Sasha Banks' NXT Women's Championship rolled right through Sara Dawson Wednesday night, debuting an arm bar submission that gives her an added element as a performer.

Clearly set up to be the babyface in her program with the woman who served as her partner, friend and mentor early in her stint with the brand, Lynch now has the opportunity to step out of the shadows of her fellow Divas and bask in the spotlight as she chases the most coveted prize in women's wrestling.

There are high expectations for her match with Banks, given what the NXT Divas have been able to do to this point. Hopefully, for her sake, she meets those expectations.
