With things set, let's detail how to catch the event and break down some of its finer points.

Wednesday, the focus was on two Bob Baffert-trained horses, as it will be at Churchill Downs Saturday, too.
American Pharoah features the best odds for good reason, as the winner of the Rebel Stakes and the Arkansas Derby continues to look like the best horse in all of racing. Dortmund is Baffert's other major contender, which makes sense considering the three-year-old colt is sired by Big Brown and undefeated in six races.
Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde offered his thoughts on how both fared:
Baffert seems inclined to agree, as Art Wilson of the L.A. Newspaper Group captures:
What about the others?
As the odds show, Firing Line isn't one to underestimate out of the 10th gate. This becomes even more apparent when one realizes the Simon Callaghan-trained horse touts two second-place finishes in his last three starts—one of those a close loss to Dortmund at the Robert B. Lewis Stakes.
Firing Line was a contender before the post draw because of those performances and the presence of legendary jockey Gary Stevens up top. Add in a great post position, and Firing Line may challenge Dortmund down the stretch once again.
Call Frosted another big winner, too. Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin's colt is already on fire as of late after serious recent changes, winning the Wood Memorial with ease. Frosted and jockey Joel Rosario, who won at Churchill Downs in 2013, seem to have great chemistry and break out of a favorable slot.
Materiality is one of the bigger losers of the draw. For shame, too, as trainer Todd Pletcher had one of his best horses in fine form going into things thanks to a win in the Grade 1 Florida Derby at Gulfstream Park.
Bobby La Gesse of The Ames Tribune puts it best for both of Pletcher's horses:
Pletcher can't complain too much, though, not with the No. 1 spot going to trainer Jim Cassidy and popular underdog Ocho Ocho Ocho.
There's a horrific history surrounding the first gate, one that Mike Curry of America's Best Racing, via Fox Sports, explains well:
"Think about it, 19 other horses break out of the starting gate and immediately start moving over to try and take that inside position. It's like a stampede engulfing the inside horse and we've seen quite a few runners get bounced around pretty good in the early stages of this race. The last horse to win from the one hole was Ferdinand in 1986.
"
Hence why top contenders can't be too upset with pretty much any other placement.
When the dust settles on the post positions, it's not hard to see why American Pharoah remains the heavy favorite. Baffert's horse needed to avoid a travesty Wednesday and did, and all he needs to do Saturday is run well—which was the main goal regardless of post position.
