IPL 2015: Top Run-Scorers, Wicket-Takers, More in Indian Premier League T20
The match between Rajasthan Royals and Bangalore Royal Challengers was abandoned at the mid-point because of rain, meaning both sides take a point.
After being put in to bat, Bangalore posted an imposing total of 200 for seven from their 20 overs. AB de Villiers scored a fine 57, while 17-year-old Sarfaraz Khan struck a stunning unbeaten 45 off just 21 deliveries.
However, their exemplary efforts were to be in vain. The heavens opened during the interval, prompting the umpires to call the match off with little sign of a change in conditions.
While we didn’t get a result, there were still some excellent individual displays to savour. Here’s a look at who the standout player was in the Royal Challengers’ batting effort and how this match affects various individual classifications.

Standout Performers

Sarfaraz Khan Comes of Age
One of the most enamouring things about the Indian Premier League is the platform it gives young players to perform. It was something that was on show in earnest in this match, as a stunning innings from Sarfaraz Khan pushed Bangalore to an ominous total.
The Royal Challengers seemed to be losing some momentum when he strode out to the crease, with the key wickets of AB de Villiers and Dinesh Karthik lost thanks to avoidable run-outs. But the youngster smashed a marvellous 45 from just 21 balls, including six fours and a maximum.
As we can see here courtesy of the tournament’s official Twitter feed, Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli was very impressed with his effort:
"The Master bows to his pupil - @RCBTweets @Sidmallya @Imvkohli #IPL #Sarfaraz https://t.co/Qa8mNe6NyJ
— IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 29, 2015"
And rightly so. To come in and make such an impact in a high-pressure game was a remarkable achievement. Rajasthan bowlers like Tim Southee and James Faulkner are quality operators in this format, but Khan was composed throughout his time at the crease, upping the ante with the swagger of a seasoned veteran.
It seems Bangalore have uncovered a real jewel here. To have a dash of youthful fearlessness in the middle order will stand the Royal Challengers in excellent stead as they look to book their playoff spot.
From Sarfaraz’s perspective, playing alongside the likes of Kohli, De Villiers and Chris Gayle will be superb for his overall development.
