Pacquiao vs. Mayweather: Title Fight Date, Odds and Undercard Info

Steve SilvermanApr 28, 2015

The countdown to Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather has reached the final stages. The biggest fight in the sport of boxing in nearly 20 years is just days away, and both fighters are starting their final preparations for their May 2 clash at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Will Manny Pacquiao's swarming speed and attacking mentality allow him to pin a loss on Mayweather for the first time in his career? Will Floyd Mayweather's ring generalship and defensive ability frustrate his opponent and allow him to dictate the pace of the match? Will either one of the fighters work "outside the script" and use some unexpected strategy to gain control of the fight?

Despite the size and the impact of this match—it seems like the whole world will stop and watch when the two get together—the odds have remained relatively steady since this long-discussed match became public.

According to OddsShark.com, Mayweather is a 4-9 favorite, while Pacquiao backers will get a return of 7-4 on their investment if he can register the upset. While the odds could change between now and fight time, it seems quite unlikely given the size and scope of the event.

Similar to the Super Bowl, boxing fans have an array of wagers at their disposal. They can wager on how long the fight will last, whether it will end in a knockout or a decision and even if the fight will end up in a draw. Fans who are looking for a huge return on their wager can also pick out the round their preferred fighter will stop his opponent.

For example, a fan who thinks Money will stop Pacquiao in the 11th round will take home $4,000 for a $100 investment. That figure is based on the 40-1 odds against Mayweather ending the fight in that specific round.

The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight will be preceded by six other boxing matches, two of which are scheduled to be televised on the pay-per-view event.

Those two fights will feature featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko defending his title against Gamalier Rodriguez and super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz against Jose Cayetano. The Lomachenko-Rodriguez fight is a 12-round bout, while the Santa Cruz-Cayetano fight, which was not confirmed until Monday, will go 10 rounds.

The rest of the undercard will not be televised. Those bouts include Chris Pearson's meeting with Said El Harrak and Jesse Hart against Mike Jimenez in a pair of 10-round middleweight bouts. Brad Solomon and Adrian Rene Granados will square off in a 10-round super middleweight fight.

Additionally, Andrew Tabiti and Anthony Caputo Smith will engage in an eight-round cruiserweight fight.
