Russian League Baller Drains 21 of 27 Free Throws While Blindfolded

Dan CarsonApr 27, 2015

Los Angeles Clippers center DeAndre Jordan is really good at basketball—some would argue great.

But no matter how many shots he blocks or souls he snatches from the still-warm bodies of his opponents, as long as he continues to affront the basketball gods with his abominable free-throw shooting, he'll play the foil for performances such as these.

Hoops reporter David Pick (h/t SB Nation's Seth Rosenthal) spotted video of Taylor Rochestie, a guard playing for Nizhny Novgorod in Russia's VTB United League, sinking blind free throws with a beanie pulled over his eyes.

Utilizing solid mechanics and presumably some form of echolocation, Rochestie, who played college hoops for Tulane and Washington State, recently nailed 21 of 27 free-throw attempts in 60 seconds.

Additionally, Rochestie posted an Instagram video of himself draining back-to-back no-look three pointers. It should be noted he held his camera/phone in selfie position for these shots.

"Hardest part was keeping the camera steady," Rochestie wrote in his caption.

As for the free throws, Rochestie shot 78 percent from the line shooting blind—a stat that legally compels me to mention that Jordan is 11-of-33 from the line thus far this postseason while using his eyes.

In fairness to Jordan, I don't think Rochestie can leap approximately 14 feet in the air and vaporize the spirit of an athletic former blue-chipper.

Gotta see both sides of every story.

Dan is on Twitter. Pop-A-Shot can fix all free-throw problems.
