Lucy Crossley of MailOnline cited The Sun's report when providing further details:
"The cheque, worth 1.8million Emirati Dirham, was intended as a final payment on a newly-built property, as part of a deal with developers Emaar, which is part-owned by the Dubai government.
Haye has said the 'bounced' cheque was down to an administrative error.
"

Haye, who hasn't fought since his 2012 victory over Dereck Chisora, explained the situation from his standpoint in Hamilton's report:
"The cheque was presented to the bank four days before I landed. It was not due to be presented until final completion of my property, which is due in a few weeks. This was an administrative error which is being rectified. I explained to the police and presented documents as proof. But I can totally understand these mistakes can happen.
"
As Crossley noted, writing a cheque that bounces is viewed as a crime in Dubai, where police investigated 80,000 cases last year. Crossley suggests this can be met with a prison sentence, major fine or simply being ordered to pay the amount owed. It is suggested police provide suspects with one month to pay the intended amount until a court case is put into motion.

Haye was meant to appear as a commentator on Spike TV's coverage of BAMMA 20. Instead, his extended stay in Dubai led him to a Robbie Williams concert, per his Twitter account:
Two of his associates also gave up their passports, but Haye was released from Bur Dubai police station the same day he entered.
The English brawler has suggested he will one day make a comeback in the ring and could still have quality years of boxing ahead of him at 34. He is one of the heavyweight division's genuine entertainers at his best, where his speedy hands and showmanship make him a globally recognised technician.
