IPL 2015: Top Run-Scorers, Averages, Wicket-Takers After April 25 Fixtures
Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings both picked up comfortable wins in the Indian Premier League, giving us a new team at the top and bottom of the standings.
For Mumbai, the 20-run win over Hyderabad Sunrisers lifted them off the foot of the table, while Chennai’s 97-run hammering of Kings XI Punjab pushed them to summit and cemented their vanquished opponents’ status as the worst team in the division.
With two emphatic wins secured, naturally there were some stellar individual performances. Here’s how some brutish batting and brilliant bowling has affected various classifications and a closer examination of some the the standout performer from these lopsided affairs.

Lasith Malinga Shows his Class
Throughout his distinguished cricket career, Lasith Malinga has been one of the most destructive bowlers in the limited overs game. While he’s struggled to make a major impression on the matches that he’s played so far in the Indian Premier League, there were signs of a return to form in this encounter.
First up, Malinga took the vital wicket of David Warner and as we can see here courtesy of the tournament’s official Twitter account, the Aussie was given a unique send off:
"David Warner not amused by Malinga's send-off #IPL https://t.co/Ac8WF87xHp
— IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 25, 2015"
But the Sri Lanka star did the majority of his damage late on in the match, with a stunning performance in the 19th over to end Hyderabad’s chase.
He took three wickets in the space of four balls, finishing up with figures of four wickets for just 23 runs conceded. Needless to say, the fast bowler was delighted with his display and was awarded the Man of the Match, per ESPNcricinfo:
"It came out nicely today. I got my rhythm.
We have a good partnership in fast bowling (with McClenaghan). It was a good batting track, but this wicket was good if someone had variations.
"
Malinga can be an expensive player at times, but when he’s in this kind of mood there are few bowlers in the world who are as effective as he is. Those associated with Mumbai will be hoping this injection of confidence for a notoriously streaky player will see a surge in form for him and subsequently, the Indians as a whole.
