West Brom vs. Liverpool: Brendan Rodgers Talks Transfers and Future in Presser
Brendan Rodgers has dismissed those who believe he should be sacked, saying he doesn't think there is "anyone better" for the Liverpool job than him.
The defiant Northern Irishman spoke during his pre-match presser ahead of Saturday's Premier League fixture with West Bromwich Albion. Liverpool are struggling to make the top four and lost their FA Cup semi-final clash with Aston Villa last time out, adding pressure to Rodgers' position after three trophyless seasons.
He still believes he's the man, per Tony Barrett of The Times:

Rodgers suggests his team's development is well on track and shouldn't be judged with last year's surprising success in mind, per Barrett and James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo:

Jurgen Klopp's decision to exit Borussia Dortmund at the end of the campaign has seen his name linked to the club. Rodgers believes this is normal, according to Pearce:
The manager is already working on improving his squad for next season. A report in the Liverpool Echo (h/t Yahoo) indicates the Fenway Sports Group owners will provide Rodgers with "full support" next campaign. Rodgers told the media that progress in being made on bringing in new faces, per Pearce:
Liverpool announced Jordan Henderson's next contract agreement shortly before Rodgers' presser. The manager is extremely pleased to see his midfielder commit, but he wants Raheem Sterling and Jordon Ibe to follow suit, per Pearce:
Rodgers' side head to The Hawthorns knowing a win is nigh on compulsory if Champions League football is to be attained next year.
Liverpool can move to within four points of fourth-placed Manchester City with five games remaining, placing the pressure on Manuel Pellegrini's side. Any slip-up is likely to prove fatal to the Merseyside club's European hopes, though.

Striker Daniel Sturridge will miss the match, per Barrett:
West Brom got back to their winning ways against Crystal Palace, but they have suffered some poor results in recent weeks. Relegation candidates Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City grabbed 4-1 and 3-2 wins, respectively, from their trip to the Midlands, so Liverpool will be more than confident.
It's important Rodgers' side return to their winning ways ahead of the midweek journey to Hull City, and indeed, the final run of Premier League matches.
