Marvin Lewis, Bengals Agree on New Contract: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction
With four consecutive trips to the playoffs under his belt, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis was rewarded with a one-year contract extension Wednesday.
According to the Bengals' official Twitter account, that means the 56-year-old coach is now under contract through the 2016 campaign:

Lewis is entering his 13th season as Cincinnati's head coach, and while he has had his fair share of success, the organization is seemingly stuck in a rut.
The Bengals have lost in the first round of the playoffs in four straight seasons and in five of the past six seasons overall. Despite their inability to get over the hump, team management is seemingly comfortable with Lewis at the helm.
That is evidenced by comments from owner Mike Brown, per ESPN.com's Coley Harvey:
As pointed out by The Cincinnati Enquirer's Paul Dehner Jr., the one-year length of the extension doesn't bring much clarity to Lewis' future:
The fact that Lewis was retained for 2015 was met with some surprise among football pundits. It may just be a calculated move on the Bengals' part, though, since extending Lewis for another year could take some pressure off of him.
However, it doesn't preclude Cincinnati from making a coaching change next season if the team doesn't progress.
Lewis has yet to win a playoff game with the Bengals, and it is tough to envision him keeping this job if that trend continues regardless of the extension.
