Liverpool Transfer News: Ciro Immobile Talks Held, Radja Nainggolan Rumours Grow
Liverpool are "interested" in Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile, according to David Amoyal, writer on behalf of Sky Italia's Gianluca Di Marzio.
Amoyal reports "the Reds have contacted Borussia Dortmund's director (Michael) Zorc" and that Immobile "could replace" Mario Balotelli on Merseyside.
The former Torino striker hasn't made the most explosive impression at the Westfalenstadion. He has netted just three Bundesliga goals in 19 appearances, per WhoScored.com, and he has been largely overlooked by outgoing boss Jurgen Klopp. With that said, Immobile delivered four strikes in six Champions League starts before Dortmund were eliminated.

Jamie Sanderson of Metro suggests a fee of around £17 million would be appropriate for the 25-year-old. It's possible newly hired Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel—who takes over from Klopp in the summer—will render the player surplus to requirements.
Immobile is a fine finisher, but he's not the type of multi-functional star Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers so often targets. The Reds have suffered from a lack of goalscorers in the box this season, however, meaning Immobile could be stationed in the centre with a view to mopping up chances which fall his way.
The player's qualities can be seen below:
Liverpool were previously linked with a swoop for Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan, as reported by Telegraph Sport. Belgian writer Kristof Terreur believes the player is now up for sale:
"Radja Nainggolan is for sale, as AS Roma can't afford a permanent move. Cagliari and Roma, co-owners, hope to get at least £29m.
— Kristof Terreur (@HLNinEngeland) April 22, 2015"
Nainggolan is a destructive midfielder who could provide mettle once Steven Gerrard exits. He has an excellent engine and looks to contribute to attacks, making him a tempting candidate to place alongside Jordan Henderson.
The Belgian previously told Gazzetta dello Sport "there's a 50 percent chance" he will remain in the Italian capital. He will certainly interest many European clubs if he is put up for sale.
Former Liverpool star Luis Garcia believes Rodgers needs to make signings who can instantly impact matches, as he told talkSPORT:
"Liverpool need a bigger squad if they’re going to fight across two or three different tournaments. We need more important players who can deliver across the big games. We need to buy a three or four more players and keep the important ones we already have.
"

Both Immobile and Nainggolan could solve incoming problems for the club. A vital goalscorer is needed, while an antidote against the impact of Gerrard's departure must be quickly found.
Rodgers targeted youth with potential last summer, but he should be looking to land world-class experience heading into his fourth season with the side. He could reignite Immobile's stuttering form and, indeed, make Nainggolan an Anfield favourite.
