WWE Would Be Smart to Emulate TNA's 'TKO Night of Knockouts' Concept
With its special edition of Impact Wrestling, TKO Night of Knockouts, TNA is set to deliver what WWE fans have demanded of late and not received: a proper showcase of women's wrestling.
WWE's competition has wisely recognized the value of its female athletes. Rather than benchwarmers who only appear in bursts and leave the audience wondering why so much WWE talent is so often wasted, TNA's women are assets.
The latest example of that comes with a unique episode of TNA's flagship show.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
On Friday night, TNA's Impact show will focus on the women's division with a plethora of matches featuring the company's Knockouts. A title match, a No. 1 contender's bout and the debut of two women are on tap.
The Night of Knockouts is set to celebrate TNA's women wrestlers, provide something out of the ordinary and potentially expand its audience. WWE should be paying attention and scheming about how to do the same thing.
It's an idea worth pilfering.
No, WWE doesn't have Awesome Kong or Gail Kim on its roster, but it's still a viable option for the leader in sports entertainment. Fans have been clamoring for WWE to give its Divas a chance. This would be exactly that.
With Raw lasting a difficult-to-fill three hours, the best bet would be to do a Diva-centric edition of SmackDown.
For one, it would be a good way to create hype around the debut of a newcomer from NXT.
A collection of talented women at NXT wait for the chance to work on a bigger stage. A variation of the Night of Knockouts idea would be a perfect way to facilitate that. Have Sasha Banks, Bayley or Charlotte come up, hype their arrival and give them a strong opponent to work against.
TNA has done well to create interest in The Doll House coming to the company via vignettes.
With WWE's stellar production team sure to create something memorable and NXT's top Divas benefiting from increasing popularity, doing something in that same spirit would be a smart move. This would make Banks, or whoever gets the nod, stand out early on.
WWE doesn't often roll out the red carpet for its women.
Buck that trend. Have Banks, Bayley or Charlotte appear on a special SmackDown against Emma as a means to introduce them grandly. Give them more time to work with than normal.

Time has been the biggest constraint for WWE's women. They are too often limited to two or three minutes in the ring. As a result, they struggle to tell a good story.
It feels as if they trying to write a short story on the back of a receipt.
A SmackDown Divas special would make ring time a non-issue. The night would be designed to show what the company's women can do with longer bouts.
It would be sure to get fans of these wrestlers riled up and would give Natalya and her peers the chance to make new fans.
To further the idea of this Diva special being novel and groundbreaking, WWE should allow its women to compete in a contest that has traditionally been a boys' club. Book a 30-minute Iron Man women's match with Natalya vs. Paige for example, and sit back and watch the fireworks.

Given this unique opportunity and asked to represent the division in this way, both women could be counted on to perform at their highest levels. It would be a surefire motivational tool.
Borrowing TNA's Night of Knockouts concept would be far from the first time WWE has plucked an idea from another company. The ladder match was conceived elsewhere. The same goes for the Triple Threat match.
Add a show dedicated to women's wrestling to the list, WWE. As intriguing as Friday's Impact promises to be, WWE has to be thinking it can outdo it thanks to a bigger budget, better production and the advantage of seeing what works and what doesn't before trying the idea itself.
When Friday's Impact goes on the air, women will take over for one night. Fans will be curious, hopeful and ready to see something new. WWE should have pen and paper in hand, ready to take notes.
