Pavel Datsyuk

The Detroit Red Wings seized the home-ice advantage on Thursday. Perhaps the biggest factor in the game was 36-year-old 12-year veteran Pavel Datsyuk. He had two goals to help strike down the Tampa Bay Lightning. He opened the scoring and then added the go-ahead goal on a power play in the second period. Shnarped Hockey caught his second goal just after the second period began.
He made the most of his 18:02 ice time by netting both of his shots on goal. The Red Wings lifer looks to be in good form for the series. Tampa Bay will need to make some adjustments if Datsyuk continues to aggressively seek his own scoring opportunities.
Jason Pominville

Aggressive the whole game, Jason Pominville scored a goal and assisted on another to help lead the Minnesota Wild to another road win. The team won all of its last eight regular-season away games. Pominville exuded the confidence that the team has been beaming with when playing on the road.
As one of the Wild's resident snipers, Pominville was relentless in his pursuit of the back of the net. The St. Louis Blues may be the top seed in the Western Conference, but they should be concerned after this game. The way the Wild are playing on the road makes them one of the most dangerous teams in the postseason.
Game 2 has to be considered a must-win for the Blues.
Ryan McDonagh

The New York Rangers defenseman didn't just score a goal, he was instrumental in keeping the Pittsburgh Penguins' offense at bay. He logged a team-high 25:36 of ice time, had three blocked shots, delivered two hits and was generally all over the place for the Rangers.
Henrik Lundqvist only saw 25 shots come his way, and McDonagh's efforts were part of the reason the Rangers' all-world goalie didn't see a ton of work.
