McHenry Suspended After Videotaped Rant Toward Towing Service Employee Emerges
Thursday, April 16
ESPN's Josh Krulewitz announced that the company has suspended McHenry for a week after she was videotaped castigating an employee of a tow truck service in Arlington, Virginia.
Deadspin's Samer Kalaf was among those to report of McHenry's actions. She criticized the employee's weight, intelligence and appearance.
ESPN confirmed earlier in the day that it was McHenry in the video and that the company was reviewing the incident, per Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated.
McHenry posted a statement online that read: "In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake."
McHenry has worked at ESPN since March 2014. Before that, she spent time with ABC 7 News and News Channel 8 in Washington, D.C.
