Ranking the Week's 25 Hottest Transfer Rumours: Carlos Tevez, Paulo Dybala

Allan JiangApr 16, 2015

Instead of scouring the Internet for the latest football transfer gossip, Bleacher Report makes your life easier by providing you with a weekly power ranking of the 25 hottest transfer rumours/deals in one slideshow.

Besides Carlos Tevez, Paulo Dybala and James Milner, who else will be featured in this slideshow?

Whether it is the Bundesliga, Eredivisie, La Liga, Ligue 1, Premier League, Serie A, alternative European leagues or non-European leagues, this slideshow will be inclusive.

These 25 players will be subjectively ranked via a combination of various standards:

  • Current playing ability.
  • Upside.
  • Projected transfer value.
  • Projected transfer resell value.
  • Social media buzz.

25. Kerem Bulut (Western Sydney Wanderers)

1 of 24

Western Sydney Wanderers centre-forward Kerem Bulut, 23, is being chased by seven clubs, per SBS: Anderlecht, Basel, Cercle Brugge, Luzern, Newcastle Jets, Perth Glory and Seoul.

Yes, Bulut may have character issues, but he is an excellent No. 9 at A-League level.

He is direct, skilful and a natural goalscorer who has netted five goals in seven A-League games this season.

Instead of staying in Australia, he should give Europe another chance, having played in the Czech Republic and Turkey prior to returning home.

24. Aaron Mooy (Melbourne City)

2 of 24

Melbourne City central midfielder Aaron Mooy, 24, is being followed by several clubs, according to his agent, Paddy Dominguez.

"[Mooy is] a 90-minute guy, he's extremely fit and strong, so he can be looked at as one of the central midfielder-type players for a club in Europe, or anywhere," Dominguez said, per SBS. "He has a huge amount of interest in him from overseas, but he's still a Melbourne City player and right now he's just focused on the finals."

Melbourne City are owned by the City Football Group, which also runs Manchester City and New York City FC.

CFG have a minority stake in Yokohama F. Marinos, so hypothetically speaking, Mooy could consider moving to the J1 League if there are no concrete offers in Europe.

Mooy was on the books of Bolton Wanderers and played for St. Mirren before moving back to Australia.

23. Moha El Ouriachi (Barcelona)

3 of 24

Barcelona forward Moha El Ouriachi, 19, will exercise his Bosman right to a free transfer and sign for Stoke City in the summer transfer window, according to his agent, Raul Verdu.

"Moha now has the chance to go straight into Stoke City's first team," Verdu said, per Tomas Andreu at Sport. "That was not something he could turn down."

Moha has scored four goals and provided five assists in 11 UEFA Youth League games over the last two seasons.

This season, Moha (two goals, 0 assists) did not match the output of Dominic Solanke (12 goals, four assists) or Andy Kawaya (one goal, six assists).

Subjectively speaking, Moha was not as awe-inspiring as the likes of Abdelhak Nouri, Brandon Barker, Charlie Colkett, Dan Crowley, Jeremie Boga et al.

They are prospects who may not have scored or created the most goals in the competition but looked a class above their peers.

22. Luis Fabiano (Sao Paulo)

4 of 24

Sao Paulo centre-forward Luis Fabiano, 34, is thinking about joining compatriot Kaka at Orlando City, per ESPN Brazil (h/t MLSsoccer.com).

Fabiano was an outstanding No. 9 for Sevilla.

Since ending his European career in 2011, he has been playing for Sao Paulo in his homeland.

He has scored two goals in six Campeonato Paulista games this season.

21. Christian Fuchs (Schalke)

5 of 24

Swansea City are favourites to sign Schalke left-winger-cum-left-back Christian Fuchs, 29, per Gareth Vincent at the South Wales Evening Post.

Fuchs is an energetic and robust left-sided footballer who interchanges between defence and midfield. Though he can win back the ball quickly, his defensive positioning is not reliable.

He is handy in the attacking half and is ideally suited to playing as a wing-back.

He is currently placed at No. 157 in Kicker's Bundesliga player rankings.

20. Nathan (Atletico Paranaense)

6 of 24

Atletico Paranaense attacking midfielder Nathan, 19, will soon join Chelsea, per Miguel Delaney at ESPN FC.

Chelsea will pay around €6.2/£4.5 million to sign Nathan, per Sky Sports.

Nathan only started 27.3 per cent of Atletico Paranaense's Brasileirao games last season. He failed to score a goal and only provided one assist in 380 minutes of action.

However, he has immense upside.

During the 2013 U-17 World Cup, he was the Silver Ball recipient, second only to Nigeria's Kelechi Iheanacho.

Nathan scored five times and provided four assists at the tournament and was labelled as a key player by the FIFA technical study group, who said he was a: "Creative, dangerous playmaker, quick off the mark, excellent technique."

Atletico Paranaense have a mixed record when it comes to their footballers transitioning to the European game.

  • Lucas Severino: Big-money flop at Rennes, who abandoned his European career to play in Japan.
  • Kleberson: 2002 FIFA World Cup winner had the traits to be a success in the Premier League but underwhelmed then-Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson with mediocre displays.
  • Michel Bastos: During his prime, he scored amazing goals in Ligue 1.
  • Fernandinho: After years of grafting at Shakhtar Donetsk, he finally received recognition when he signed for Manchester City.

19. Juan Iturbe (Roma)

7 of 24

Roma forward Juan Iturbe, 21, has been afforded an exit route by two Premier League clubs, according to his agent, Gustavo Mascardi.

"There are two teams in England who want [Iturbe]," Mascardi said, per Radio Crc (h/t talkSPORT). "[The two Premier League teams] would be willing to pay the fee Roma [paid] for him."

The two Premier League clubs are Arsenal and Liverpool if you are to believe talkSPORT's speculation.

Iturbe, a €22/£17.4 million signing from Hellas Verona last summer, has flopped at Roma thus far.

He has scored one goal and provided one assist in 1,062 minutes over 19 Serie A games this season.

18. Johann Berg Gudmundsson (Charlton Athletic)

8 of 24

Charlton Athletic's Icelandic right-winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson, 24, is set to be rewarded for successfully transitioning from the Eredivisie to the Championship.

Gudmundsson will receive an improved contract, revealed Charlton Athletic manager Guy Luzon, per Louis Mendez at News Shopper.

Since signing on a free transfer from AZ last summer, Gudmundsson has become Charlton Athletic's answer to David Beckham, according to Luzon.

"When we have set pieces Gudmundsson is like our Beckham," Luzon said, per Sky Sports. "We are happy he belongs to our team."

Gudmundsson has scored 10 goals in 38 Championship games this season.

In the past, Charlton Athletic have relinquished footballers with rising transfer stocks:

  • Lee Bowyer: Charlton Athletic  Leeds United (19 years old, 1996).
  • Danny Mills: Charlton Athletic  Leeds United (22 years old, 1999).
  • Darren Bent: Charlton Athletic  Tottenham Hotspur (23 years old, 2007).
  • Scott Parker: Charlton Athletic  Chelsea (23 years old, 2004).
  • Andy Reid: Charlton Athletic  Sunderland (25 years old, 2008).

17. Enner Valencia (West Ham United)

9 of 24

West Ham United's Ecuadorian forward Enner Valencia, 25, is being targeted by Chelsea, per Simon Jones at the Daily Mail.

Valencia can be a counter-attacking threat and is capable of audacious moments, but he is unproductive.

He has scored four goals and provided three assists in 26 Premier League games, which is inefficient.

Chelsea should give Dominic Solanke or Isaiah Brown a chance as a backup No. 9.

16. Sami Khedira (Real Madrid)

10 of 24

Real Madrid central midfielder Sami Khedira, 28, is contemplating joining either Chelsea or Manchester United in the summer transfer window, per Simon Jones at the Daily Mail.

Running down an expiring contract, Khedira is expected to exercise his Bosman right to a free transfer this summer.

Khedira is a world-class footballer, except his body is breaking down. He is not a safe bet to play out an entire campaign without getting injured.

It makes no sense for Manchester United to have an injury-prone squad player, while Chelsea should give Charlie Colkett or Ruben Loftus-Cheek a chance.

15. Dani Alves (Barcelona)

11 of 24

Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc has denied making a bid for Barcelona right-back Dani Alves, 31, whose contract is expiring.

"There has not been a concrete offer for Dani Alves," Blanc said, per ESPN FC. "He is a Barcelona player and it would not be the best moment to contact him."

Barcelona "will not be bending over backwards to renew" Alves' contract, per Xavi Hernandez of Marca.

Alves' impending departure from Barcelona will grant Martin Montoya the chance to shine.

14. John Guidetti (Manchester City)

12 of 24

Feyenoord have refused to meet the salary demands of Manchester City centre-forward John Guidetti, 23, per Keith Jackson and Gordon Parks at the Daily Record.

Guidetti is playing out his Manchester City contract on loan at Celtic.

This season, Guidetti has scored 14 goals in 30 total appearances for the Glasgow outift.

Two seasons ago, Guidetti was one of the most promising No. 9s in Europe, having scored 20 goals in 23 Eredivisie games on loan at Feyenoord.

He hasn't been the same since suffering a career-threatening illness.

13. Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

13 of 24

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, 26, will soon hold talks with management over his long-term future, per Sky Sports.

Walcott has struggled with injuries and being played out wide throughout his career. He believes he should be played as a centre-forward.

Walcott's electric pace brought him fame and riches, but it has meant he has masqueraded as a winger when he is a No. 9.

12. Clement Grenier (Lyon)

14 of 24

Lyon attacking midfielder Clement Grenier, 24, has denied that there is friction between him and management.

"Contrary to what I hear sometimes, there is no problem, neither from my side or that of [Lyon]," Grenier said, per Le Parisien (h/t Ian Holyman at ESPN FC). "I want to play again without pain, have a good end to the season before thinking about my future."

When asked about his contract situation, Grenier acknowledged Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.

"I know the president wants to extend my contract. As he knows, my priority is to play football again. It's my job, my passion, my life," Grenier said, relayed by the aforementioned article. "I don't close the door, I have never closed the door to the club where I have come through the youth academy."

Grenier, a set-piece specialist and has watched teammates Alexandre Lacazette, Clinton N'Jie and Nabil Fekir flash periods of elite form throughout this campaign.

Meanwhile, Grenier has been trying to regain full match fitness.

He had a good cameo in a 2-0 win over Bastia, making several crisp passes and hitting a ball from the left flank into the path of Mohamed Yattara to create a goal.

11. Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV Eindhoven)

15 of 24

PSV Eindhoven central midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, 24, is content with his current situation but wants to test himself against Europe's best.

"I am happy at PSV Eindhoven, but I am a player with a lot of ambition. I want to play in a stronger league than the Eredivisie," Wijnaldum said, per Pete Hall at Sky Sports. "With my quality I feel I can bring a lot to a team that I will join. I want to show it in the big leagues: England, Italy, Spain, Germany and France."

Wijnaldum has scored 12 goals and provided three assists in 29 Eredivisie games this season. He can do damage when he is running at opposing defenders, but he does not do enough off the ball.

Adam Maher and Andres Guardado have often covered Wijnaldum's inability to be a prolific ball-winner.

He averages 0.9 tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes. That is why it would be more logical to play Wijnaldum as a deep-lying forward.

10. Tom Cleverley (Manchester United)

16 of 24

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, 25, is a summer transfer window target for clubs from England, Germany, Italy and Spain having impressed on loan at Aston Villa, per Sky Sports.

Cleverley is playing out an expiring contract at Manchester United, so his free-agency status enhances his appeal to potential suitors.

Sure, Cleverley is not Manchester United quality, but he would be a good addition to a mid-table/bottom-tier club in one of Europe's elite leagues.

Cleverley completes 86.3 per cent of his 50 passes per 90 minutes this season.

9. Aaron Cresswell (West Ham United)

17 of 24

Manchester City want to increase their squad depth by adding West Ham United's English left-back Aaron Cresswell, 25, per James Ducker at The Times.

Cresswell has gone from League One to the Premier League in five years.

Defensively, he is not a tenacious ball-winner (averaging 1.2 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per 90 minutes), but he brings a Leighton Baines-esque presence in the attacking half.

8. Danny Ings (Burnley)

18 of 24

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is considering signing Burnley centre-forward Danny Ings, 22, per Sam Cunningham at the Daily Mail.

Ings has scored nine goals and provided four assists in 29 Premier League games this season.

Without Ings, Burnley would have no hope of surviving relegation. However, if Ings is fit, he can conjure up game-winning moments and help Burnley escape the drop.

Rather than being a squad player at Manchester United, Ings should consider moving to a mid-table Premier League team.

7. Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton) and 6. Javier Hernandez (Manchester United)

19 of 24

Manchester United will offer Mexico centre-forward Javier Hernandez, 26, to Southampton in an attempt to sign English right-back Nathaniel Clyne, 24, per Miguel Delaney at ESPN FC.

A straight swap would benefit Manchester United, given Hernandez has averaged 21.1 minutes from 16 league games on loan at Real Madrid, whereas Clyne is averaging 89.9 minutes from 29 Premier League games this season.

Clyne immediately fits into Manchester United.

  • Clyne is durable unlike Rafael.
  • Clyne is a full-time right-back, as opposed to Antonio Valencia, who is a makeshift defender.

Hernandez has scored four goals while starting 12.5 per cent of La Liga games he has been involved in for Real Madrid this season.

5. James Milner (Manchester City)

20 of 24

Arsenal could be about to offer a four-year contract to Manchester City utility player James Milner, 29, per James Olley at the London Evening Standard

Milner is running down his expiring contract and could be one of the most in-demand free agents during the summer transfer window.

He can play in multiple positions, is a selfless footballer, dependable and has great intangibles.

4. Gonzalo Castro (Bayer Leverkusen)

21 of 24

Bayer Leverkusen utility player Gonzalo Castro, 27, has welcomed Bayern Munich's reported transfer interest in him.

"Bayern Munich belong to the biggest clubs in the world," Castro said, per Bild (h/t Stephan Uersfeld at ESPN FC). "The interest honours me."

Throughout Castro's career, he has shifted around defence and midfield. He has primarily played as a defensive midfielder this season.

He is experienced, versatile and an incisive passer, and he would be an excellent squad addition to Bayern Munich.

He is currently placed at No. 15 in Kicker's Bundesliga player rankings.

3. Jannik Vestergaard (Werder Bremen)

22 of 24

Everton want to sign Werder Bremen centre-back Jannik Vestergaard, 22, per Bild (h/t Hannah Duncan at Metro).

Vestergaard is gigantic and, at times, is a wall at the back. That is why Hoffenheim kept on persisting with him even though he would be so inconsistent and make inexplicable, Dejan Lovren-like mistakes.

Since moving to Werder Bremen, Vestergaard has been immense, constantly intercepting passes and being an aerial presence.

Vestergaard has not started enough games to qualify for Kicker's player rankings, but his current rating would see him placed at No. 30.

He is Kicker's second-highest-rated Werder Bremen footballer behind Zlatko Junuzovic.

2. Paulo Dybala (Palermo)

23 of 24

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio rates Palermo's Argentinian centre-forward Paulo Dybala, 21, but believes his price tag poses a problem.

"I can say that we like Dybala," Ausilio said, per Sky (h/t Football Italia). "[But] I imagine [he] would be expensive."

Dybala is a streaky footballer who is either world class or a bust. People forget that he was a failure prior to this season and the comparisons to Sergio Aguero were way off base.

Twenty-nine Serie A games, 13 goals and nine assists later, Dybala's transfer stock has risen exponentially.

1. Carlos Tevez (Juventus)

24 of 24

Juventus centre-forward Carlos Tevez, 31, has requested a transfer to Boca Juniors, per Corriere della Sera (h/t Football Italia).

Tevez is one of the best forwards in Europe, scoring 17 goals and providing seven assists in 27 Serie A games this season.

He currently leads Serie A in scoring.

Throughout Tevez's career, he has always been looking to move, seemingly never able to settle at one club.

It will be a shame if Juventus fail to placate Tevez's desires to head home.
