Wednesday Recap
Watford remains in the hunt for a finish in the top two of the Championship after a 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest, while Fulham and Rotherham United played out a 1-1 draw that doesn't help either team.
Odion Ighalo scored early to give Watford a much-needed lead against Forest, who finished Wednesday's contest with 10 men after Kelvin Wilson was sent off. The Hornets have now lost just one of their last 11 matches and sit level on points with Norwich, as the play-off battle starts to heat up.
As shared by MailOnline Sport, the difference with Bournemouth has shrunk to just a single point:
Tuesday Recap
Bournemouth claimed their third successive Championship victory on Tuesday evening, but there were periods of the 1-0 win at Reading that would have undoubtedly made Howe sweat on the sidelines.
And not for the first time this season, it was star forward Wilson who emerged to seal the result for the promotion chasers, striking home in the fourth minute, per The Independent's Jack-Pitt Brooke:
For around 15 minutes, Norwich were happy enough to reside at the top of the table by virtue of their earlier kick-off, beating Leeds United at Elland Road thanks to goals from Jonny Howson and Graham Dorrans.
The Canaries struggled to irk out their initial advantage and had to wait until the 57th minute for Howson's opener, but they never looked like losing, as the hosts were limited to just three attempts on goal.
And just as the Norfolk contenders did their bit to stick with Bournemouth, Boro would make it back-to-back wins with a 2-1 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It took the Teesside hosts just 11 minutes to establish a two-goal lead thanks to Jelle Vossen and Patrick Bamford, with Craig Hope of the Daily Mail describing the latter's display as "brilliant":
Bakary Sako did test Middlesbrough's resolve with a second-half consolation, but that was all it turned out to be, as the northeast hosts claimed all three points to remain in third spot.
While those victories were all fairly narrow in terms of decision, Derby County and Ipswich opened up more substantial leads against Blackpool and Cardiff City, respectively, to cement their runs to the playoffs.
Darren Bent bagged two as the Rams devastated the Tangerines 4-0, while Mick McCarthy's men handed the Bluebirds a 3-1 defeat to make it six goals scored in their last two outings.
The Guardian's Nick Ames rightly swung praise in Ipswich's direction, and with Brentford suffering a 1-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, the Tractor Boys now have three points separating them from seventh spot:
Elsewhere, discipline appeared to go out the window at the Den, where Wigan Athletic finished with only nine men on the pitch, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Millwall.
The Lions' official Twitter account confirmed the result, which leaves Gary Caldwell's side seven points shy of safety with only three games left to play.
As a result, the Latics' fixture against Brighton this Saturday becomes their most important of the campaign to date; fail to win, and their drop to League One is confirmed.
Tuesday also produced draws for Birmingham City and Bolton, sharing the spoils with Blackburn and Charlton, respectively.
