Masters 2015 Leaderboard: Final Standings and Breakdown from Augusta National

Jordan Spieth etched his name into golfing history by becoming the second-youngest winner of the Masters Tournament on Sunday. He put on an Augusta whooping—leading from start to finish—to take the green jacket.

Spieth finished the major on 18 under, finishing four shots ahead of Phil Mickelson and Justin Rose, who contributed massively over the weekend. The rankings can be seen below:

World No. 1 Rory McIlroy came up short at 12 under, while the returning Tiger Woods posted a solid, yet perhaps frustrating showing at five under. He picked up a late injury to his right wrist, as reported by Helen Ross of PGATour.com.

Read on for a breakdown of the action.

2015 Masters Breakdown

Time for Rory to Watch His Back

Spieth's excellence should have McIlroy looking over his shoulder, as noted by the PGA Tour's social media feed:

Indeed, the youngster's form doesn't threaten to cease:

McIlroy knows the player's potential and suggested he will go on to be a great:

As reported by Mike McAllister of PGATour.com, Spieth became the first player to reach 19 under at Augusta. He posted a record 28 birdies, making Sunday's play feel like a formality. This is the mark of a winner. If there's no drama heading into the final round, the player at the top has done his job.

While the favourite before the tournament, McIlroy fell alarmingly short of the standards many expected. In truth, he rarely threatened to land the Grand Slam and make up for his collapse in 2011.

At Spieth's age, McIlroy dropped six shots in three holes along the final day's back nine, allowing Charl Schwartzel to nick the lead. Spieth showed no sign of losing his composure in a watershed moment for his career.

Rose Ready for a Run of Form?

Closest to Spieth was Rose and Mickelson, who should both be pleased with their efforts. In fact, Rose proved he has the quality to challenge for major titles, despite a less than memorable start to his year.

This was his first finish inside the top 25 of seven events in 2015, per the PGA Tour's website, after he previously missed three cuts. His fans back in England will be hoping a joint-second finish at Augusta can ignite a run of form.

Buzzfeed highlighted Rose's memorable wiggle after his putt on seven:

Rose shot 24 birdies and 10 bogeys across the weekend, hitting par 38 times, per the Masters website. At one point, he got to within three shots of Spieth, but the youngster's ability to find an extra gear made the difference. It was a hugely positive weekend for Rose, though, who will take heart from a fine showing.

Woods' Diminishing Capabilities Shine Through

Much of the attention prior to the Masters was the return of Woods. The American was never going to win—neither his form nor fitness would allow it—but it was great to see him compete with some of that old flair.

He finished joint-17th overall, a result that would be hailed as a success for any other 111th-ranked player. Woods was tied for fifth with McIlroy heading into Sunday, but he suffered his aforementioned wrist injury when appearing to hit a tree branch, as reported by the Press Association (h/t The Guardian).

For all the positives, the reality is Woods' capabilities have diminished. With Spieth, McIlroy and others regularly dominating, the veteran golfer looks to have reached the stage where staying competitive—not winning—should be his priority. Moments of brilliance and frustration interspersed his showing, something fans have gotten used to over the last few years.

Woods himself admitted he won't compete again "for a while," per the Press Association (h/t The Guardian). He is working extremely hard to try to rekindle his quality of old, but his ceiling has lowered. Even when showing some of the best form in recent memory, he ultimately failed to rank inside the top 10. A break only underlined the difficulties he faces.

It would be foolish to write Woods off, but it's likely his name will make bigger headlines than his performances in the future.
