NASCAR Xfinity Series at Texas 2015: Results: Winner, Standings and Reaction
The rest of the motorsports world is on notice after Erik Jones' checkered flag in Friday night's O'Reilly Auto Parts 300 at the Texas Motor Speedway.
Jones beat out experienced Sprint Cup drivers Brad Keselowski and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to capture his first career victory on the Xfinity Series. Jim Utter of The Charlotte Observer felt that besting stars such as Keselowski and Earnhardt only made Jones' victory more emphatic:

USA Today's Jeff Gluck was there to ensure that everybody felt a little older after Friday's race:
It's almost certainly only the beginning of what is a budding career. This wasn't necessarily a star-making turn for Jones, but it illustrated his massive potential.
Here's a look at the top 10 finishers from the race and how it impacted the Xfinity standings:

This was the kind of race in which strategy trumped having the best the car. Throughout the night, drivers and crew chiefs were tasked with tons of tough decisions, such as when to pit, what to take in the pits and for the cars in the league, whether to start on the inside or outside lane after cautions.
There were a lot of cautions and a lot of stops, which only served to increase the gamesmanship.
In the end, Jones and his crew outperformed everyone else on the track. In what proved to be the last pit stop of the race, the No. 20 car found itself in first place, per Jayski's:
Jones never relinquished the lead from that point forward. In fact, he opened up more distance between himself, Keselowski and Earnhardt. A caution was the only thing that could've thrown the 18-year-old out of the top spot.
With a clean final stretch, the gap was too much for Keselowski to overcome.
After the race, Earnhardt praised the teenager, per Fox Sports:
Joe Gibbs Racing added that the way in which Earnhardt continued to push Jones showed how much respect he had for Jones' abilities:
After a result like this, it's almost impossible not to look toward the future. Jones is still very young and has a long way to go, but as Earnhardt noted, it's impossible not to see the potential he shows on the track.
Fox Sports' Matt Yocum believes Jones will have another year of seasoning ahead before he makes the jump to the big leagues:
Jones' win certainly overshadowed everything else that happened on the track. Darrell Wallace Jr. looked good for stretches and led three laps. He wound up in sixth. Brian Scott will be a bit frustrated that he led the third-most laps but only finished 10th.
Ty Dillon, who owned the points lead heading into Friday, hardly factored in the final outcome. He never led a lap during the race and really struggled after incurring a penalty midway through the race after one of his crew members hopped over the wall a bit too early, per Daniel McFadin of Motor Sports Talk:
The somewhat stop-and-go nature of the race certainly didn't help Dillon as he looked to move up the field; he had to settle for 12th.
Luckily for the 23-year-old, that finish didn't mean dropping in the points standings. He still owns a slim lead, albeit a smaller one than he had before the race.
Dillon will look to consolidate his position at the top when the Xfinity Series moves to the Bristol Motor Speedway for next Saturday's Drive to Stop Diabetes 300. The green flag will drop at 1:30 p.m. ET, with television coverage on Fox Sports 1.
