Kell Brook vs. Frankie Gavin Fight Announced for May 30
Kell Brook will defend his IBF welterweight title against fellow Briton Frankie Gavin at The O2 in London on May 30.
Sheffield boxer Brook made a successful comeback in March with an impressive win over Jo Jo Dan, and now that the Gavin fight has been confirmed, he will soon be in the ring again.
It will be a big night of boxing. Kevin Mitchell will face WBC lightweight champion Jorge Linares, and Lee Selby will face IBF featherweight champion Evgeny Gradovich.
Unbeaten heavyweight Anthony Joshua also gets the chance to finally step into the ring with Kevin Johnson after their previous bout was called off, per David Anderson of the Daily Mirror.
Brook is looking forward to the opportunity to fight at The O2:
He made a successful return to the ring in Sheffield in March after a machete attack in September last year, per Gareth A Davies of the Daily Telegraph, left him with a leg injury which threatened his career.
He proved to be far too good for Dan as the fight was stopped at the end of the fourth round after he had knocked down his opponent four times.

Following his victory over Dan, Brook had called on Amir Khan to agree to a Battle of Britain at Wembley Stadium in June, per Jeff Powell of the Daily Mail, but he has now had to settle for a fight with Gavin, which he fully expects to win.
Brook told Sky Sports: “I feel like I'm unbeatable right now and Gavin isn’t going to be able to cope with my speed and power on fight night.”
Khan, meanwhile, is scheduled to fight Chris Algieri on the same night that Brook meets Gavin, per the Press Association via The Guardian, and Powell feels the anticipation is building for the Battle of Britain.
“By keeping the United Kingdom on tenterhooks for another 12 months, Brook and Khan can crank up the ante way beyond what [promoter Eddie] Hearn describes as ‘the biggest pay-day of their lives’.”
Elsewhere on the Brook card at the O2, Mitchell gets another chance at a world title when he faces the Venezuelan fighter Linares.
Mitchell beat Daniel Estrada in January in a WBC lightweight title eliminator and he was beaten by Ricky Burns in 2012 when he went for the WBO version.
Selby is also given a crack at a world title following his eliminator win over Joel Brunker last October. He comes up against the unbeaten Russian Gradovich, who drew with Jayson Velez in his last bout.

Joshua, meanwhile, returned to the ring in impressive fashion at the start of April when he knocked out Jason Gavern in three rounds.
It was his first fight since November after a back problem forced him to pull out of a scheduled meeting with Johnson at the end of January.
Joshua will be hoping to take another step closer towards a world title shot on what promises to be a belting evening of boxing for the British fighters.
Brook will be the undoubted star and he could provide a taste of what is to come against Khan, if the two rivals can agree to get into the ring.
