Manchester United Interested In Clyne, to Offer Hernandez
Tuesday, April 14
Miguel Delaney of ESPN FC reported that Manchester United is interested in Clyne's services and that the club will offer Javier Hernandez as a makeweight in a potential transfer:
"United had been favourites to sign the defender, but that has been complicated by Chelsea's growing interest, having scouted Clyne considerably over the past few weeks.
Chelsea's interest may result in a bidding war, but sources have told ESPN FC that United's hierarchy hope that offering Hernandez can boost their own discussions with Southampton.
With Louis van Gaal making it clear there is no real place for the Mexico international in his United team, Hernandez has suffered a disappointing season on loan at Real Madrid, and the striker's wish is to return to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has already reportedly rejected offers from the MLS, and a club like Southampton could offer the ideal opportunity given that he would likely be a regular starter at an upwardly mobile club.

Chelsea Show Interest
Wednesday, April 8
Dominic Fifield of The Guardian reports Chelsea have joined a couple of Premier League rivals in scouting Clyne along with midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin: "Chelsea are considering rivaling Arsenal and Manchester United in the pursuit of Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin and Nathaniel Clyne this summer as they prepare to add to their options in the transfer window."
Clyne started his career with Crystal Palace before moving to Southampton in 2012. He's developed into one of the club's most dependable players since that point. His contract runs out after next season, however, leaving his future up in the air.
The 24-year-old right-back, who's made four appearances for the England national team, has played 29 Premier League matches for the Saints this term. Along with his defensive contributions, he's also tallied a pair of goals.
He should be about to enter his peak seasons, so it doesn't come as much surprise that other clubs are considering a summer push to sign him. Given the marquee sides reportedly involved in the chase, it doesn't sound like he'll come cheap, though.
The situation should become clearer in the weeks ahead.
