Real Madrid Transfer News: Rumours on Sergio Aguero and Blancos' Top Targets

Rob BlanchetteApr 6, 2015

Sergio Aguero could be in line to be Real Madrid's next superstar Galactico, with rumours the mighty Spanish club have their eyes set on the Manchester City striker.

Anthony Chapman of the Express says Los Blancos plan to show Karim Benzema the door, and replace him with a £70 million offer for the Premier League champions' top player, as claimed by Italian website TuttoMercatoWeb.com.

Aguero is very much accustomed to the Spanish capital city after spending five years with Atletico Madrid before making the switch to English football.

The Meringues have previously been interested in purchasing the player during his time in Spanish football, per Chapman, and they now look set to make him one of the most expensive players in world football with a huge bid for his services.

Aguero has once again been in great form this season, finding the back of the net on a regular basis.

The striker has hit 23 goals in 28 starts in the EPL and Champions League, per WhoScored.com, despite suffering with minor injury on an all-too-frequent basis during the past 12 months.

These injuries make Aguero somewhat of a risky purchase when the biggest money is being touted around.

There is little doubt the player is a sensational attacker, who on his day is the best in the world at what he does. But there is a nagging doubt whether he will ever be fit for an extended period, with the player susceptible to strains and pulls.

However, if Aguero does make his way back to La Liga with Carlo Ancelotti's team, he would form the most deadly strike force in Europe with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale, giving Madrid a holistically powerful attack to match Barcelona's trio of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar.

El Clasico is already the biggest individual club game in world football, but Aguero's addition would only further the brand of the famous fixture.

The 26-year-old's achievements in a City shirt have been recognised in England, with the player being shortlisted this season for the PFA Player of the Year award.

Craig Hope of the Mail Online sang Aguero's praises after his nomination, highlighting his consistent nature when his team have failed to hit their best form:

"

Without his [Aguero's] goals City’s title challenge would have faded long ago. It has been a poor season at the Etihad. Aguero, though, has managed to mask those shortcomings with his brilliance. His four goals against Spurs and match-winning treble versus Bayern Munich are among the best individual performances of the season.

Meanwhile, he was so devastating during his two-goal show at Sunderland that the home crowd rose to applaud the Argentine when he made way late on.

"

City's loss would certainly be the Galacticos' gain, and Aguero could achieve all of his dreams in the famous white shirt of Madrid.

Radamel Falcao to Make Surprise Bernabeu Landing

If the addition of Aguero would not be enough, it also seems Madrid will move for another of Atletico's favourite former sons with the signing of Radamel Falcao from Monaco.

Anthony Chapman of the Express once again reports the transfer speculation, saying Spanish media outlets believe Florentino Perez is prepared to part with £32 million to acquire the Colombian superstar.

El Tigre has had a difficult time this year, with his loan spell at Manchester United being less than fruitful. His lack of goals has seen his confidence plummet, and it is clear a fresh challenge would do him a world of good.

At United, many fans have lost belief in him, with Wayne Rooney returning successfully to the striker's position after his deployment in midfield.

Falcao has not appeared in peak condition at any point since his return from major injury, which forced him to sit out the World Cup in Brazil.

Football writer Tom Coast recently commented about the player during United's previous match against Aston Villa, highlighting his overall lack of physical control:

But to his credit, Falcao has positioned himself away from any transfer talk at present, and he appears to want to succeed in a United shirt if possible.

ESPNFC quoted the troubled striker speaking to Radio Caracol about his future, and he addressed a claim he could join Italian champions Juventus, saying: "Juventus looking for me? They talk a lot, but now I'm focused 100 percent on Manchester United."

Now closing in on 30 years old, it is difficult to see where Falcao fits into the Galactico picture. Certainly in years gone by, when he was at the top of his game, he would have been Los Blancos' main man with Ronaldo, but it feels that ship has sailed.

Aguero is the more likely capture when logic is employed, and the Argentinian may feel he has unfinished business to attend to in Spain, after twice becoming a Premier League winner.

The chance of winning La Liga would surely be a huge draw to the player, as well as the opportunity to represent the biggest club in Latin football.
