Top Batsman: Glenn Maxwell (16/1)

Having thrived in this tournament last season with Kings XI Punjab and on the back of sampling World Cup glory with Australia last month, Glenn Maxwell will be coming into this IPL with some phenomenal momentum behind him.
At 16/1 he is fine value to top the run-scoring charts come the end of the competition and as we can see here, he’s a player that has previously flourished in this format:
Indeed, while Kings XI did eventually fall just short in their eventual pursuit of glory last year, in Maxwell they boasted the standout player in the competition. While in the World Cup he was a brutal enforcer in the middle order for the Baggy Greens, in this shorter format he’s pushed up the order, often yielding pretty spectacular results.
As we can see here courtesy of OptaJim, there was no player in the IPL who cleared the boundary more than the Aussie all-rounder in 2014:
With some quality players alongside him in this lineup, Maxwell has the freedom to express himself earlier on in the innings and if he does get settled, Kings XI typically post a massive score. With that confidence in the quality of his team-mates and his own fine form considered, expect Maxwell to thrive once again in India.
Top Bowler: Trent Boult (16/1)

Another player who shone at the World Cup Down Under, New Zealand’s star bowler Trent Boult will be tasked with helping the Sunrisers Hyderabad into the playoffs with his left-arm fast bowling.
The Black Caps star may have suffered heartache in the World Cup final as his side fell to Australia, but from an individual perspective, he can be delighted with the quality performances he turned in time after time in the tournament.

He took 22 wickets—the joint most in the competition—bowled with a mixture of aggression and control, and as noted here by SuperSport, was rightly name in the World Cup best XI:
Boult is so dangerous with the new ball in hand. He did so much damage up front at the World Cup and in this shorter format when batsmen are looking to take more risks, he will find wickets easy to come by.

As we can see here, he’s a bowler who knows how to build pressure by strangling the scoring rate too, which is another vital art when it comes to prising opposition players out:
While the Hyderabad batting lineup does leave a lot to be desired when compared to some other sides in this competition, Boult will be well supported in terms of bowling. He looks set to share the new ball duties with South Africa’s Dale Steyn in what looks like a hugely intimidating opening duo for the Sunrisers; expect them two to do some huge damage as a duo.
