Manchester United Transfer News: Rumours on Top Stars Linked to Red Devils
Manchester United look set for another sensational summer of spending, as rumours of Raheem Sterling's imminent capture circulate.
George Bellshaw of Metro reports that Louis van Gaal is hoping to spend £105 million to sign the Liverpool attacker, as well as PSV Eindhoven's Memphis Depay and Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels.
However, Bellshaw states that these transfers might be funded by the sale of Angel Di Maria.

In a breakdown of the spending, Sterling is likely to cost £50 million, with Netherlands international Depay commanding a £20 million fee and Dortmund looking for offers of £35 million for World Cup-winning defender Hummels, per Bellshaw.
PSV boss Phillip Cocu recently confirmed to Voetbal International and local press that Depay is likely to leave the club in the close season, as reported by Lewis Rudd of Metro: "I think [Depay] is ready for the next step, and I think that he will leave. We take it into account in any case."
However, it would be Sterling's signing that would fill the column inches of English newspapers.

Sterling has emerged as one of Europe's hottest attacking talents, developing at pace under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers.
The player has been forced to lead the Liverpool charge from the front this season, with fellow England international Daniel Sturridge enduring an injury-hit season.
He has six goals and seven assists to his name in 29 Premier League appearances this term, per WhoScored.com, and the player clearly knows he would command a lot of attention if he were placed on the market.
United would not be the only team interested in the attacker, but former assistant coach Phil Neville believes Sterling should pledge his future to his current club, per BBC Sport, proclaiming the youngster is "not good enough for a big move" to one of Europe's elite:
"I don't think he would get into Chelsea's team with Diego Costa there. Would he make Manchester City's team with Sergio Aguero there? Manchester United with Wayne Rooney there? It has been horrifically mismanaged—not just this week—I was reading about this last April. This is a 20-year-old who should just be concentrating on playing football.
"

Sterling and Depay would add flair and speed to LvG's first team, and both would fit well into his favoured 4-3-3 formation.
Depay is very much the Dutch equivalent of Sterling, and the pair could thrive under United's experienced coach.
The prospect of seeing the duo perform for United, fulfilling the club's ethos of attacking football with pace and guile, will whet the appetite of Red Devils fans.
United Prepare Move For Fabio Coentrao

Appearing once again on United's radar is Portugal international Fabio Coentrao, with rumours stating that the Real Madrid man will move to the club in the near future.
George Bellshaw of Metro says that a £25 million deal for the versatile left-sided player is in the pipeline, with Coentrao apparently keen to leave the Bernabeu.
The player made it clear during the recent international break that he is ready to start a new chapter of his career in the north west of England, commenting on his desire to join Van Gaal's revolution, per The Telegraph:
"I have already shown an interest in playing [for Manchester United]. It is one of the best clubs in the world, a club I admire a lot. It would be an honour to play there."

Coentrao would give LvG an experienced option on the left, with Luke Shaw still raw and young. However, Daley Blind has filled in admirably during the Southampton signing's absence, so it is questionable whether United really need the Galactico.
But as with Depay and Sterling, the Portuguese player would fit comfortably into Van Gaal's 4-3-3 because of his ability to travel from box to box.
Ashley Young's exceptional form also leads to questions about whether Coentrao is really needed at this point, and at the stated £25 million, he would not be a cheap option.
If United can secure their current Premier League position and find their way back into the Champions League, it would be surprising if Van Gaal did not splash the cash to improve his chances of silverware.
Sterling, Depay, Hummels and Coentrao are all players of great standing in European football and would add an extra fizz to a United team looking to climb back to the top of the English game.
