Final Four 2015: Updated Bracket and Latest Expert Picks for Semifinals

R. Cory SmithApr 3, 2015

In just over 24 hours, the Final Four will finally tip off with four deserving teams hoping to punch their ticket to the title game. The pressure will be at an all-time high for each program with so much on the line.

With a stage this massive, every expert has a prediction about who will advance. Can Michigan State keep its run going? Will Wisconsin avenge its loss from last year and finally put a one in the "L" column for Kentucky? What about the potential of Kentucky and Duke meeting in the national championship game?

Before the Final Four gets underway, here's a look at the updated bracket and predictions from experts at multiple sites.

ESPN

  • Jay Bilas: Duke; Kentucky
  • Fran Fraschilla: Duke; Kentucky
  • Jeff Goodman: Duke; Wisconsin
  • Seth Greenberg: Duke; Kentucky

Nearly every expert picked Duke, with Dan Dakich being the only outlier. His prediction was not inserted above but can be found below at the link below.

Seth Greenberg, a former coach in the ACC, stuck to his guns by picking Duke to make it to the national championship game. He offered his breakdown of the semifinal leading up to the showdown:

The only expert to predict Wisconsin pulling off the win was Jeff Goodman, who actually had the Badgers winning it all before the tournament got underway. Whether it's Goodman just being stubborn or actually believing the Badgers can pull it off, his choice stands alone for ESPN.

Oh, and Jay Bilas chose Duke. Go figure.

CBS Sports

  • Gary Parrish: Duke; Kentucky
  • Matt Norlander: Duke; Wisconsin
  • Sam Vecenie: Duke; Wisconsin
  • Chip Patterson: Michigan State; Kentucky

Unlike ESPN's experts, CBS Sports took the bold route. Three of the five experts chose Wisconsin over Kentucky, while only Chip Patterson chose Michigan State to take down Duke. Ironically enough, Patterson is the lone expert living in the Triangle.

How will Wisconsin go about winning against Kentucky? With the best offense in modern history, according to Matt Norlander:

"

But for as superb as UK is on defense, it's now facing Wisconsin, which boasts far and away the best offense in modern college basketball history. In a sentence: the Badgers are better with the ball than Kentucky is without it. ...

Since March began, Wisconsin's offense has only gotten better -- against better opponents in the biggest time of the season, mind you.

"

For a full breakdown, check out Norlander's great analysis on the Badgers' ridiculous offense. Can Wisconsin's offense really outmatch Kentucky's defense? If it puts up a performance similar to what Notre Dame did in the Elite Eight, Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker can close the deal.

Saturday's matchups are so tight that every analyst has a different opinion. That's clearly evident with CBS Sports' expert picks, which are all over the board.

Bleacher Report

  • C.J. Moore: Duke; Kentucky
  • Jason King: Duke; Wisconsin
  • Kerry Miller: Duke; Kentucky

Two of our experts believe the Wildcats will keep an unblemished record heading into the national championship against Duke. Jason King, on the other hand, made the gutsy call that Kaminsky and Dekker will pull off the upset.

Earlier this week, King wrote that Dekker would likely be the secret ingredient to put the Badgers over the hump. The junior has been a spark plug for the Badgers in the tournament and finished with a team-high 15 points against Kentucky last year in the Final Four.

"We're not going to back down from anybody," Dekker said, via King's feature. "Obviously, they're a great team, the best team in the nation right now. But I think we're a pretty good team, too.

"People are going to talk about revenge, revenge, revenge. But that's not going to be the case. We're just going to try to get a win and go to the national title game."

If King's prediction comes true, it would be a massive upset in the college basketball world. For Dekker, it would simply be vindication for returning to the program and a shot at a national championship.
