Preview

Yes, Wisconsin can beat Kentucky.

Heck, if the Badgers shoot 78.9 percent from the field and 83.3 percent from beyond the arc like they did in the second half against Arizona in the Elite Eight, they'll beat just about any team out there.

They have a legitimate star in Frank Kaminsky, a player in Sam Dekker who has been excellent in the NCAA tournament and the underrated Nigel Hayes, who might end up being the best NBA prospect of the three. The Badgers have the size and skill to hang with the Wildcats, and they showed against Arizona just how dangerous they are when they get hot.

But they won't beat Kentucky.

The Wildcats are deeper. They have several players who can match up against Kaminsky, including arguably the nation's best defender in Willie Cauley-Stein, something that Kaminsky isn't accustomed to seeing.

They are the longest, most athletic team Wisconsin will have faced. The Badgers will have a tough time slowing down Karl-Anthony Towns in the post. And for all of the experience Wisconsin has, Kentucky has several players who made a run to the championship game last year.

Much like Wisconsin has a shot to beat Kentucky but probably won't, such is the case for Michigan State against Duke. It has the defensive ability and versatility to hang with the Blue Devils. Travis Trice, Denzel Valentine and Branden Dawson are a solid top trio. The Spartans have handled every test thrown their way in a tough road to the Final Four. And there is always the Tom Izzo factor.

Ah, but that Coach K fella isn't a slouch, either.

Plus, Duke has without question the top two players in this game in Jahlil Okafor and Justise Winslow and possibly the top four depending upon how highly you rate Quinn Cook and Tyus Jones. Offensively, the Blue Devils can just bury you with their talent, and in the past two games, they've proven that even if a team takes Okafor out of his rhythm, Winslow can step in and lead them to victory.

Ultimately, this matchup comes down to one simple fact—Duke is just much, much more talented. Michigan State will make this one close, but the Blue Devils will move on based on pure talent alone.
