Arsenal Transfer News: Domenico Berardi Eyed, Latest Mario Suarez Rumours
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a move for promising Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi, taking advantage of the Italian federation's decision to drop the system of co-ownership to pry him away from Juventus, per the latest rumours.
According to Calciomercato (via Daily Express' Joe Short), the Gunners are willing to use Joel Campbell as a trade piece in discussions with Sassuolo, with Wolfsburg and Schalke also expressing a keen interest:
"Berardi, 20, boasts eight goals for the season and has picked up nine yellow cards, including one red, from 24 outings.
He is co-owned by Sassuolo and Italian giants Juventus, but an Italian Football Federation decision to scrap dual ownership means all players contracted under the system must have their situations resolved by the summer.
That means Berardi could be on the move as Sassuolo struggle to hold on to their star man.

Short goes on to claim Juventus are unlikely to bring the 20-year-old to Turin, which goes directly against the words from Sassuolo coach Eusebio Di Francesco, who said his club are preparing the Italy U21 international for Juventus in an interview with Tuttosport (via Football Italia):
"We must look for those who have potential and nurture them. We are preparing Berardi and Zaza for Juve.
Berardi is pure technique and nerve, but with intelligence. I hope he stays this way.
[...]
If they go to Juventus, that's because the club considers them important.
I think they are. Berardi is only 20-years-old, and he's been playing at high levels for the last three seasons.
"
Berardi burst onto the scene with a phenomenal campaign during the 2013-14 season, including a magic night that saw him score all four of Sassoulo's goals against AC Milan. It led to some fantastic scenes on the set of Diretta Stadio:
The speedy winger/forward has continued his progression this season, with eight Serie A goals so far, per Short. Combining with Simone Zaza, he gives Sassuolo one of the best one-two punches in attack in all of Italy, and both are expected to make the move to Turin next season.
Berardi is far from a finished product. He has a short temper that leads to far too many cards for a forward, and he was at it again during Italy's international friendly against Serbia on Monday, via RossoneriTV's Adamo Ritacco:
His talent is undeniable, however, and it's hard to see any scenario where Juventus don't find a way to bring him to Turin at the end of the campaign.
Mario Suarez's Agent Drops Transfer Hint

Atletico Madrid's Mario Suarez looks ever more likely to be on the move this summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool reportedly following the player, per the Daily Express' Charles Perrin. And as reported by Football Italia, agent Manuel Garcia Quilon has been addressing the reported interest from several Italian clubs, including Milan:
"I don't know if he's a prospect for Milan. He was followed in January by three or four Italian teams, including Milan, Inter and Napoli.
He is a spectacular player and the Italians wanted him.
At the moment I couldn't say if there are any meetings planned with [Adriano] Galliani, but it's true that in the past he was pursued by Milan.
We're talking about an extraordinary player, who can represent the season's best signing for any team.
"
As shared by Telegraph Football, the comments read both as a clear message to the Premier League sides that there is strong competition for his services, as well as a signal he will be on the move:
The 28-year-old has been in and out of the Atletico Madrid lineup all season but has performed admirably when called upon, and this summer seems like the perfect time to leave the Vicente Calderon in search of more consistent minutes and a big pay day.
Certain clubs may be wary of bringing in a player who failed to make the regular starting spot in midfield his own, but for the right price, it never hurts to add a big, strong midfielder with plenty of Champions League experience.
Liverpool, in particular, appear a good fit, needing to find a replacement for Steven Gerrard. The emergence of Francis Coquelin makes adding Suarez less of a must for the Gunners, who may have already found their starter of the future.
