Instant Contributors Kansas City Chiefs Can Find in Every Round of 2015 Draft

Farzin VousoughianMar 30, 2015

There is no doubt that the Kansas City Chiefs have had a successful offseason so far. By addressing needs at wide receiver and offensive line and having a total of 10 draft picks, general manager John Dorsey, head coach Andy Reid and the rest of the front office can be flexible in the upcoming draft.

The Chiefs can fill any remaining holes on the starting roster and add depth. But with 10 draft picks, odds are the Chiefs can come away with some instant contributors throughout the entire draft.

In this slideshow, we look at all seven rounds and which players could provide an immediate impact in Kansas City.

Round 1 (18th Overall)

1 of 7

Dorial Green-Beckham, WR, Missouri

Dorial Green-Beckham entered college football as a highly praised recruit and is expected to do really well in the NFL. With wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and tight end Travis Kelce already on board, Green-Beckham would be another weapon for quarterback Alex Smith to work with. The only major concern with Green-Beckham is his off-the-field issues.

Cameron Erving, C, Florida State

With the departure of Rodney Hudson at center, the Chiefs should strongly consider Cameron Erving. Erving is versatile, has experience playing multiple positions on the offensive line and would do a good job for the Chiefs in the middle of the line.

Landon Collins, S, Alabama

With a strong pass rush, average defensive backs become good and good defensive backs become great. With outside linebackers Tamba Hali and Justin Houston on defense, Chiefs defensive backs should do well. Collins would become a ball hawk and get plenty of takeaways thanks to ill-advised passes forced by Hali, Houston and the rest of Kansas City's front seven.

Round 2 (49th Overall)

2 of 7

Quinten Rollins, CB, Miami (Ohio)

The Chiefs have an underrated cornerback in Sean Smith and a solid player who had a good rookie campaign in Phillip Gaines. But multiple cornerbacks are never enough in an era where many teams have a strong passing game. Quinten Rollins would be a good pickup in the second round.

Devin Funchess, TE, Michigan

With the Chiefs parting ways with tight end Anthony Fasano, Devin Funchess would be a reliable No. 2 tight end behind Kelce. Funchess is hard to bring down when he has the ball and usually has the size advantage, at 6'4" and 232 pounds, against linebackers and smaller cornerbacks.

Hroniss Grasu, C, Oregon

If the Chiefs miss out on Erving in the first round, Hroniss Grasu would be a good option in the second round. If the Chiefs can address the center spot with either Grasu or Erving, their interior offensive line could be one of the strongest in the NFL.

Round 3 (80th and 98th Overall)

3 of 7

Nelson Agholor, WR, USC

With a pair of third-round picks, the Chiefs can address multiple needs and come away with a dark-horse contributor. As always, the Chiefs can use better wide receivers after a disappointing showing last year from the receiving corps. Nelson Agholor would represent a good addition in the third round.

Anthony Harris, S, Virginia

If the Chiefs pass on Collins earlier, they could get a reliable safety in Anthony Harris. As mentioned earlier, a strong front seven goes a long way in helping defensive backs play even better, and Harris could do more in Kansas City.

Ronald Darby, CB, Florida State

Depending on what the Chiefs decide to do in the first two rounds, they can select Ronald Darby if they haven't taken a cornerback yet. With two picks in the third round, the Chiefs will likely use one on a defensive back.

Round 4 (118th Overall)

4 of 7

Ben Heeney, ILB, Kansas

Starting in the fourth round, it becomes very difficult to find rookies who can make an instant impact. But a smart front office will always do its due diligence and find good players in the late rounds. Though Ben Heeney saw very few wins at Kansas, he had an impressive college career as an individual and would be a great addition beside Derrick Johnson.

Tyler Lockett, WR, Kansas State

The odds of Tyler Lockett coming to Kansas City are low, given that he has a similar skill set to De'Anthony Thomas. If Reid could find a way to consistently use Lockett and Thomas on offense and special teams, however, Lockett would make for a good draft pick.

Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford

The Chiefs can add some depth behind Mike DeVito and Allen Bailey by drafting Henry Anderson. In case the Chiefs lose another defensive lineman to injury, Anderson would be a good player to have.

Round 5 (172nd and 173rd Overall)

5 of 7

Brett Boyko, OT, UNLV

The Chiefs need to build some depth behind Eric Fisher and whoever starts at right tackle by snagging Brett Boyko late in the fifth round.

Grady Jarrett, DT, Clemson

Grady Jarrett would be a nice addition behind Dontari Poe. Poe would be a good mentor, and Jarrett could do well if he needs to step in.

Round 6 (193rd and 217th)

6 of 7

Blake Bell, TE, Oklahoma

Blake Bell played some quarterback at Oklahoma but is better suited to tight end in the NFL. It would be intriguing to see how he would be used in different formations as a Chief. Given his quarterback experience, perhaps he could be used in some exciting trick plays where he passes.

Tye Smith, CB, Towson

The Chiefs lacked depth at cornerback last year. Tye Smith would be a good piece to address that, and he'd have a chance to climb his way up the depth chart.

Round 7 (233rd Overall)

7 of 7

Stanley Andre, OLB, Massachusetts

Stanley Andre can learn from two good pass-rushers, but with Dee Ford also on the roster, he wouldn't play much on defense. Nevertheless, he could be good on special teamsespecially under coordinator Dave Toub.

Darren Waller, WR, Georgia Tech

As alwaysespecially for the Chiefsthere is no such thing as having too many wide receivers. Darren Waller would likely fight for a spot on the 53-man roster.
