Anderson Can't Win For Winning?
Alright Browns Fans, we did it. We finally, put the ball in the endzone. How sweet it is! Last night while at Browns Stadium with my wife and 3 kids, as I was walking to the bathroom. I received a text message from clevelandbrowns.com. It announced that Mangini had announced DA would start. I was very happy, for the simple fact if it is truly a QB competition, that both QB's be afforded the same opportunities.
So back to the game. Right before kick off, I noticed there were 3 DA fans behind me and 3 or 4 Quinn fans in front of me. I told each and everyone of them. You watch when we get the ball, DA will march down the field and will get 6 on the board. He most certainly did not disappoint. The drive was polished off by a hard 4 yard TD run by Lewis. On the drive Anderson had one bad throw on a quick slant to Edwards, which in all fairness he threw it like a lawn dart. Braylon had no chance for the catch.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
After the kickoff we all saw the highlights, Eric Wright picked good old #1 pick Stafford. The thing that pissed me off the most was after a good read and return, the fans and Wright were fired up. Wright did not spike or use the ball as a prop, he simply jumped into the Dawg Pound to celebrate with the Cleveland loyal. So what happens we get a 15 yard excessive celebration penalty. Apparently only players from Green Bay are allowed to do it without penalty. Now that took us from what looked like another sure TD to settling for a Phil Dawson FG. 10-0 Browns.
Now back to Anderson. Did I mention he looked sharp last night. Now the numbers are not staggering but 8-13 for 130 yards (Well 130 yards is pretty good though) and a suspect interception. The reason I call it suspect is, for all you Braylon Edwards haters out there. You expect every ball that hits his hands should be caught. And you all sound like my father as I was growing up. If it hits your hands it should be caught. So when James Davis did not catch the ball with about 20 seconds remaining in the first half, as it glanced off his HANDS not hand for a pick. Well Davis if it hits your hands you should catch. Again a catchable ball. Some people say too much mustard on it. But that's what DA brings to the table. What he lacks in mobility he makes up for with his rocket arm. Quinn is the total opposite, more mobility(except last night) and not as strong of an arm. Also Anderson took 0 sacks. Quinn and his elusiveness meet the turf on a 3rd and 1 on play action.
Now to all the fans that are Quinn fans only. I read a lot of articles last week on how good Quinn is. Now, I am not here to debate that. I feel he is a good QB as well. But numbers and your thoughts sometimes contradict each other. Lets look at your opinions and facts. Last week you all said that DA could not get nothing established or points on the board on Green Bay's second string Defense. Yep you are most certainly right he did not. But Quinn did not put points up against Detroit's second string Defense and they are the worst team in the league. I am willing to bet, that Green Bay's second string defense, is better than Detroit's first string Defense. So what is Quinn's excuse now? He had the same players to work with as DA? All I see is 2 weeks straight and 0 points for Quinn. You guys need to realize, yards and completion percentages do not win games... Points do! So you can have any crazy number of yards or completions you want... If you don't score, who cares. A loss is a loss. There is no honorable mention for wins and loses.
To further elaborate my point that Anderson deserves an equal opportunity to start. DA is 8 of 15 for the preseason with 2 picks. Got it the picks hurt. But out of his 8 completions, he has 4 completions of 20 or more yards. (All last night) The most beautiful of them all, was a laser strike to Edwards for 34 yards. That football had smoke trailing it. That is the biggest difference in our QB's. That DA to Edwards connection had all fans remembering the 2007 season.
Quinn had one completion of 24 yards also, mainly in part to YAC. His completion was for about 15 yards to Robiskie and then he did the rest with some YAC. Some of you may be right. Quinn may be the answer. But I ask all of you this. Many believe that Anderson and 2007 was a fluke. Maybe it was maybe it wasn't. Many say once Defensive Coordinator's saw enough tape on Anderson, they had him pegged, maybe they do. But ask ourselves this. How much tape do they have on Quinn? Not much at all. Many of you thinks he deserves his chance. But what happens when Defensive Coordinators realize that Quinn loves, the quick slant, the 5 or 10 yard in or out. What happens when they realize they do not have to honor the deep ball as much as they do with Anderson. Well, then we are back here in a year and a half. Debating the same issues but with Quinn and another QB, because Anderson will be gone.
In closing, both QB's bring a lot of good in their own retrospect to the team. But numbers do not lie. The way I am seeing this preseason is DA 13 Quinn 0. All I ask is there not be any comments on DA putting up points on Detroit. Just for the simple fact that Quinn had the same chance to put up points on a porous defense, and he didn't. So your points are null and void. Now lets have a friendly debate. And remember Pre-Season counts when your in the Browns dilemma. Thanks and GO BROWNS!
