Wayne Rooney made headlines after a video recently emerged of him apparently knocked out—and then responded with a goal celebration spoofing that KO. But the England and Manchester United captain says he won't be celebrating like that again after his son was doing the same celebration at school.
Kai Rooney is now five years old—just the sort of age at which we're often told that children imitate footballers. And in this case, that footballer is his dad.
Rooney, as quoted by Dave Kidd and Liam Prenderville of the Daily Mirror, has denied that incident was as serious as the video made it appear and added that he has no intention of celebrating that way again:

"For me, it wasn’t a big issue. I was in a house with some friends.
Obviously I was caught on the wrong end of a punch, but I wasn’t knocked out like it was reported. Unfortunately the video stopped there...
There has been stick around the place, at United and England training, but you’d expect that. They’re a group of lads.
I’ve always loved boxing. Unfortunately, sometimes, it didn’t go too well for me!
It’s funny, my wife went to pick up my lad from school and saw him doing that (celebration) in the classroom. I’m sure you won’t be seeing that again.

He adds, however, that there'll be no apologies for the clip, as he felt that he had done nothing wrong.
Rooney is back in action for his country against Lithuania on Friday and will join up with his club next week.
