Previously, Pochettino noted the Frenchman is "still recovering," per Spurs' website. This came before the 0-0 draw with Burnley, which saw Dutchman Michel Vorm take up residence between the sticks.
Lloris Misses France Friendlies
Sunday, March 22
Lloris was forced from the field of play in the first 60 seconds of Spurs' league game at home to Leicester City and missed France's friendly encounters against Demark and Brazil.
After the incident, the north London club confirmed Lloris' injury and his substitution via their official Twitter feed:
The 'keeper's injury occurred when he collided with his own defender, full-back Kyle Walker.
Matt Law of The Daily Telegraph confirmed the accident between the two players, with the BBC's Gary Lineker predicting the worst for Lloris:
"Kyle Walker injures Hugo Lloris in the second minute. Vorm on for Tottenham. Lloris off on a stretcher.
— Matt Law (@Matt_Law_DT) March 21, 2015"
"2 goalkeepers, Hugo Lloris and Fraser Forster both stretchered off with nasty looking injuries.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) March 21, 2015"
After the match, Pochettino talked about the injury, according to Miguel Delaney of ESPN:
Lloris has had one of the best seasons of his career to date in 2014-15, putting in a string of fine performances under Pochettino, but the coach will now fear he has lost his goalkeeper for the rest of the campaign.
Spurs are still very much in the hunt for a top-four finish and Champions League berth, but without Lloris, the likelihood of that happening will decrease.
Lloris has six clean sheets in his 29 Premier League appearances this term, per Squawka, and he has been David de Gea's main competition for the title of best goalkeeper in English football this season.
Tottenham have been driven by the force of nature that is Harry Kane, but without their world-class shot-stopper, it is difficult imagining them finishing above fifth position, as their defence does not have the necessary experience to excel at present.
