Marcin Gortat Fined $5K for 2nd Violation of NBA's Anti-Flopping Rule

Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat has just learned the hard way that the old cliche, "cheaters never prosper," often rings true, as the NBA has fined him for repeatedly flopping.

The Wizards won the game, 88-84 and Gortat took to Twitter to react to the news of his fine:

Gortat has been a key figure for the 40-28 Wizards, averaging 12.1 points and a team-leading 8.7 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. If the Wizards are to advance deep into the postseason this year, Gortat will play a major role alongside John Wall, Bradley Beal, Paul Pierce and Nene. 

However, his habit of flopping is a disappointing trend, and the NBA has been more than justified in cracking down on the deceptive practice. Gortat's most recent flop was particularly egregious and was the sort of display that the NBA has clearly made a point not to tolerate. 

After finding his wallet a bit lighter Thursday, Gortat might take the NBA's stance to heart this time.
