Jacob Tamme to Falcons: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos tight end Jacob Tamme has signed a deal to join the Atlanta Falcons. The team announced the news on Thursday.
Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported it was a two-year deal.
The 30-year-old was a solid backup tight end option for the Broncos last season, racking up 109 yards and two touchdowns on 14 catches. While the eight-year veteran didn't factor much into the Broncos passing game, he's emerged as a valuable blocking tight end both in the passing game and the running game, and he's avoided serious injury in recent seasons.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Tamme talked about his decision to join the Falcons on Twitter:
While Tamme isn't an explosive force, he's a solid veteran option for the Falcons, who don't utilize the tight end much in the passing game. Last year's starting tight end, Levine Toilolo, racked up just 238 yards and two touchdowns.
Ultimately, the tight end represents a good, low-cost signing for the Falcons. While Tamme is never going to be a Pro Bowler, he's a consistent, reliable blocker who is capable of making the occasional play as an outlet valve for quarterback Matt Ryan. He's also capable of stepping up to fill in for Toilolo should the Stanford product go down with an injury.
