3 Chelsea Players to Watch in Youth Cup Semi-Final

Garry HayesMar 17, 2015

Chelsea face Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday in the second leg of their FA Youth Cup semi-final clash.

Spurs hold the upper hand in the tie after their 2-0 victory in the first leg, but Chelsea will feel confident of overturning that deficit given the talent they have within their ranks.

Dominic Solanke remains eligible for Youth Cup duty as he is still only 17 years old, as does the talented Izzy Brown.

Outside of that duo, the likes of Charly Musonda, Charlie Colkett, Ola Aina and Jeremie Boga have all reached the final in the past two seasons.

It's clear Chelsea have the pedigree, so we're expecting an entertaining game as the Blues endeavour to continue their recent domination of the competition.

On the eve of kick-off, Bleacher Report identifies three players to look out for at Stamford Bridge.

Jeremie Boga

1 of 3

D.O.B: January 3, 1997

Position: Midfielder

Jeremie Boga was one of the young talents at Chelsea who impressed during pre-season last summer, filling in while many of the senior stars were still away on international duty.

Despite injury this season, the French starlet has continued his progress in Chelsea's development squads, featuring heavily for the under-21s, as well as on FA Youth Cup duty for Joe Edwards' under-18s side.

Having recently returned from a spell on the treatment table, Boga scored in Chelsea's 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the league, and he was also a substitute in the 2-0 loss a week later in the first leg of this Youth Cup semi-final.

Boga is an exciting talent. He's quick, enjoys running at players and creates plenty of space for those around him.

He is a real handful and with him among the matchday squad at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea know they have the talent and ability to overcome Spurs.

Jay Dasilva

2 of 3

D.O.B: April 22, 1998

Position: Defender

Still only 16 years old, don't be fooled by Jay Dasilva's diminutive frame—he is a big talent.

He is clearly valued at Chelsea after Jose Mourinho used him for his early pre-season teams last summer, playing against the likes of Wycombe Wanderers and AFC Wimbledon.

Against physical, experienced professionals, Dasilva held his own, and it was a good sign of what we can expect in the future.

He has a strong mentality, but his ability with the football is even better. He is quick, doesn't mind a tackle and provides plenty of width on the left flank, attacking from deep.

Dasilva was part of the winning FA Youth Cup team last season when Chelsea beat Fulham in the final.

Can he get his hands on the trophy once more?

Tammy Abraham

3 of 3

D.O.B: October 2, 1997

Position: Striker

Last season's FA Youth Cup saw the emergence of Dominic Solanke in the Chelsea U18s team.

Now that Solanke is featuring more with the club's under-21s, it's allowed other strikers the opportunity to make a name for themselves.

Tammy Abraham is one who has seized his opportunity, proving prolific in front of goal.

The 17-year-old scored a hat-trick at the weekend 6-4 victory over Spurs in the league, bringing his tally for the season up to 27.

What's impressive is that just two of those strikes have come from the penalty spot.

Chelsea have a two-goal deficit to overturn at Stamford Bridge, but with the prolific Abraham leading the line, it's understandable why they are confident of achieving that.
