After the buzz of free agency last week, cornerback Tramon Williams was one of the biggest names left on the market. The Cleveland Browns took care of that, signing the veteran to a contract Monday.

The Browns confirmed the signing on their website.
“Tramon is a really good and consistent player,” general manager Ray Farmer said, per Andrew Gribble of Browns.com. “He has had success in this league because he’s a pro’s pro who believes great preparation leads to great performance. We are very happy to be able to sign a player of his caliber to our secondary.”
Bob McGinn of JSonline.com broke down the final offer Green Bay put on the table:
"Thank you Ted Thompson, Russ Ball and Mark Murphy for giving me the opportunity to play for such a prestigious organization as the Green Bay...Thank you Alonzo Highsmith for seeing my worth and pushing Ted to bring me to Green Bay. Joe Whitt, I'm grateful to you for always believing...believing in me. The Packers fans, thank you for always supporting me through the good and bad.
"
Dane Brugler of CBS Sports thinks the Browns smartly approached the second week of free agency:
Even on the wrong side of 30, Williams has remained productive. He finished the 2014 season with 77 tackles, three interceptions and a fumble recovery. In his eight-year career, all with Green Bay, he's accumulated 471 tackles and 28 picks.
The Browns will be expecting their secondary to once again be a strong point, and Williams will likely pair with Joe Haden as the starting corners, with Justin Gilbert playing as the nickel corner. Add in solid safeties in Donte Whitner and Tashaun Gipson, and the Browns should be very good against the pass in 2015.
Williams is a reliable, consistent corner who should give the team a good season or two alongside Haden. Cleveland's defense has certainly improved during free agency, and the addition of Williams was a strong one for the team.
