Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Hughes took to Twitter to offer his thoughts:
The Browns selected Hughes in the third round of the 2012 NFL draft. He's been a limited contributor over the first three seasons of his career. The Cincinnati product has 84 tackles and four sacks in 36 games (seven starts).
He played just five games last year due to a knee injury. Brendan Leister of Draft Browns notes when he did see the field, he was an effective member of the defense:
Clearly, the Browns are betting that the flashes Hughes has shown in select roles are eventually going to translate to a full-time spot. He should have an opportunity to earn a place in the starting lineup opposite Desmond Bryant in 2015.
The extension is an example of Cleveland trying to lock him up at a reasonable price now before he starts making a bigger impact. Now, the front office just has to hope it pays off.
