According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Amendola's contract is now a three-year deal that could ultimately pay him a total of $15 million:
Per Garafolo, Amendola opted to stay with New England despite potentially having the opportunity to get a bigger contract elsewhere:
The 29-year-old wideout finished the 2014 campaign with just 27 catches for 200 yards and one touchdown, but he was a much bigger factor in the playoffs.
Amendola made 11 grabs for 137 yards and three scores during the Pats' march to a championship, and he seemed to finally settle in to New England's offense as a favorite target of quarterback Tom Brady.
Amendola fits the mold of the typical Patriots receiver, as he has sure hands and thrives out of the slot. If he maintains his playoff form during the 2015 regular season, then the Patriots offense should continue to thrive.
