NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com, noted that the Dolphins “were prepared to give Suh a six-year, $114 million contract, with $60 million guaranteed.”
Adam Beasley of The Miami Herald provided some updates from the press conference regarding executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum and his role in the Suh signing:
Suh was one of the marquee names on the free-agent market this offseason, and he is seen as an elite impact player on the defensive side because of his ability to stuff the middle and free up lanes for his teammates to make plays. The Detroit Lions were the best team in the league against the run in 2014, largely because of Suh’s ability to plug holes up the middle.
He is clearly ready to be that type of player in Miami as well, given his press-conference comments, per the Dolphins' official Twitter account:
Suh was asked about his thoughts on QB Ryan Tannehill, per Andrew Abramson of the Palm Beach Post:
When asked about his time in Detroit, he praised the Lions organization, via ESPN's James Walker:
CBSSports.com's Jared Dubin joked this isn't the first time a player gave credit to his old team: "It's also the 100,932,928,928th time a player said he enjoyed his time with the previous team he played for."
Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald passed along a notable comment from Suh during his media session:
While they are just words at this point, it also has to be a relief for any Dolphins fans worried about Suh’s reputation to hear him answer the way he did.
Miami’s defense certainly looks much more formidable with the addition of Suh. Now, all he has to do is dominate on the field once again to live up to that contract.
