Monday, March 16
Liverpool confirmed Skrtel is starting vs. Swansea.
On March 14, Brendan Rodgers told reporters that "Skrtel should be available. He should be fine," according to James Pearce of the Liverpool Echo.
On March 8, Skrtel was involved in an early clash with Rovers striker Rudy Gestede. As Skrtel challenged the 26-year-old target man, he fell awkwardly and hit the ground hard head first, per Liverpool's official Twitter feed:
The Slovakian central defender lay prone for several minutes before being stretchered off. Rodgers acted quickly to replace a key cog at the back, per Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce:
Fortunately, Skrtel was still able to move and speak after he was placed on the stretcher, per the BBC Sport Twitter feed:
Signs of movement were certainly a relief after the initial, worrying images after the player had fallen to ground. More specifically, Skrtel was able to show his displeasure at having to come off at all, according to BT Sport:
Following the match, Rodgers revealed Skrtel is "fine," per Winters. Rodgers specified that Skrtel would be going to the hospital for a check-up. Skrtel posted a message to his Instagram account to update fans on his condition:
