Adam Caplan of ESPN provided the financial details:
ESPN's Josina Anderson spoke with Herremans, who explained why he chose the Colts:
"It was a different experience for me going through trying to find a whole new team. Indy seems like a good fit for me and a good opportunity to start. I want to compete for a Super Bowl. I've been close before but never quite close enough. I had a good time speaking with their offensive line coach and their general manager Ryan Grigson. I know him from when he was in Philadelphia. It was good to reconnect. I have a good feeling about it. I'm really excited to get started.
"
Herremans also commented on his Twitter account, saying "Life is good."
Since the veteran guard was released and not a standard free agent, he was allowed to sign a new contract before the new league year begins on March 10. It helped him to land in an ideal situation with a contender in the Colts.
Herremans should further solidify an offensive line that rated seventh in pass protection and 15th in run blocking last season, according to Football Outsiders. His power in the middle will particularly help open up more holes for the rushing attack.
At 32, it makes sense for him to accept a short-term deal. He can then reevaluate the situation after next season, which will be his 11th in the NFL.
