NFL Rumors: Latest Free-Agent Buzz on Ndamukong Suh, Jay Cutler Trade Talk, More
The biggest name in NFL free agency will be the Detroit Lions' Ndamukong Suh. When the Lions chose not to use the franchise tag on their star defensive tackle, a flood of rumors ensued.
One of the most recent has the Miami Dolphins positioned as the favorites to land the 28-year-old. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports:
"I'm told the Dolphins are confident they're going to put a great offer on the table for Suh. They are confident they can get him. They are not certain because, obviously, this is a still a competition."

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The fact that there is no state tax in Florida is always a potential draw for any free agent, but as Salguero mentions, there will be a good amount of competition for Suh's services. Marc Sessler of NFL.com expects the Lions to fight to keep Suh, and for the Chicago Bears and Jacksonville Jaguars to throw their bids in as well.
The Jags seem like a stretch considering how frustrated Suh has been when he has lost. It would still be a few years before the team would be in position to reach the postseason. Obviously he could return to Detroit and build on what the team has accomplished already. Then there's the Bears, who are in the process of rebuilding their defense.
There are some question marks on offense in Chicago as well. The team just agreed to trade star wide receiver Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com, and we'll talk about the uncertainty at quarterback in just a bit. Based on those factors, the Dolphins could very well be the most attractive potential suitor.
They have a good young quarterback in place in Ryan Tannehill, another dominant defensive lineman in Cameron Wake, no state tax and have shown improvement on a whole over the last two seasons. That's not a bad situation to head into.
Contact with free agents can begin on Saturday.
Is Cutler Moving, Too?
How far will the Bears' overhaul go? Marshall was viewed as a bad influence in the team's locker room and has reportedly been shipped off for a fifth-round pick. No other player has been more of a figurehead in what has been painted as a low-character Bears group than Jay Cutler.
For that reason, you would have to think that new general manager Ryan Pace might be in favor of getting rid of Cutler as well.
Per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, because of Cutler's hefty salary, the Bears' options are limited. Biggs writes: "One NFL source said the [Tennessee] Titans are the only realistic destination in terms of a trade for Cutler."
The Titans need a quarterback, and Cutler played his college ball in Tennessee at Vanderbilt. It's possible there could be some interest there.
If Marshall only fetched a fifth-round pick and he doesn't carry the same financial burden that Cutler does, a sixth- or seventh-round pick might be a realistic return for Chicago.
File this under the speculation realm, but assuming the Bears want to trade Cutler, that would obviously leave a bit of a void under center. If character guys and hard workers are what Chicago is after, couldn't they target the Oregon Ducks' 2014 Heisman Trophy winner Marcus Mariota in the draft?
Chicago probably won't be able to get him at No. 7, but if the Bears could procure the Titans' No. 2 pick away from them, they could bring in a franchise quarterback. It would likely take the Bears No. 7 pick, at least another future first-round selection and possibly a second- or third-round pick to get it done.
Chicago has to think about doing that, doesn't it?
Randall the Raider?

Per Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Green Bay Packers have balked at free-agent wide receiver Randall Cobb's salary demands, and the Oakland Raiders may be ready to pounce.

If the Raiders do chase and sign Cobb, it could change their direction in the upcoming draft. Many have them taking West Virginia Mountaineers stud Kevin White with the fourth selection.
If Oakland can ink Cobb, the wide receiver position wouldn't necessarily be of major importance any more. Perhaps Oakland would become a potential trade partner for teams known to covet Mariota or other highly touted prospects.
Things are about to get really interesting in the NFL offseason.
