Byron Bell Re-Signs with Titans: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
The Tennessee Titans announced Thursday they re-signed offensive lineman Byron Bell.
Bell started all 16 games for the Titans in 2015 after signing with the team last offseason.
Bell didn't show drastic improvement from his time with the Carolina Panthers, for whom he played from 2011 to 2014. Pro Football Focus gave him a 57.7 overall grade, which ranked 38th among qualified offensive tackles.

In his defense, though, Bell moved all around Tennessee's O-line, spending time at right tackle, left guard and left tackle. Any player would struggle to find consistency when being shifted around so often.
"Since I've been in the league, I have played four positions," said Bell, per Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official website. "I am blessed to still be playing ball. I just want to be a guy who is dependable, and be a guy a team can count on."
It's a bit early to judge whether the Titans made the right decision in re-signing the 27-year-old.
Re-signing Bell strictly to be an auxiliary lineman/injury replacement makes a lot of sense for the Titans since he can play multiple positions at an effective level for short stretches. If the team envisions him being a pillar of the O-line in 2016, then it's taking a big gamble.
This move will look a lot different should Tennessee select one of Laremy Tunsil, Ronnie Stanley, Taylor Decker or Jack Conklin in the first round of the 2016 NFL draft.
With Taylor Lewan a lock to occupy one of the tackle positions, the arrival of a high draft pick would fill the other tackle slot. As a result, Bell would take a more limited role on the line than he had in 2015, and considering his struggles the last few years, that would work to Tennessee's benefit.
