Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
It's not yet clear how long Chaz Schilens will be out with a reported broken bone in his foot.
"They told me my fifth metatarsal broke, so that’s it,” Schilens said.
"It’s just a sharp pain,” Schilens said. “Couldn’t run any more so I knew something was wrong. It is what it is.”
This for now is a huge loss for the Raiders' offense. In the preseason opener Schilens put up five receptions for 52 yards and drew a 47 yard defensive passing interference call, all that in one qaurter. He and Russell seem to have built alot of chemistry this offseason. Hopefully this will allow Russell to spread the ball around and build a better rapport with his other recievers, without being to detrimental to the team.
In Schilens absence the Raiders will need to find another reciever to step up as that go to guy. Someone like Johnnie Lee Higgins, Javon Walker or one of the young guys like Nick Miller, Louis Murphy or Darius Heyward-Bey.
Javon Walker is reportedly ahead of schedule in recovery and set to become a full participant in practice as early as monday morning, two days after the upcoming 49ers game.
Fifth metatarsal bones usually take about six weeks to heal. Meaning Chaz is likely to miss the rest of the preseason and first three games, that happen to be division rivals.
