Villarreal Chasing Luis Enrique's Lead

It's been three weeks since Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Gerard Pique gave Barcelona an overbearing first-leg lead against Villarreal, with the Blaugrana undoubtedly confident heading to El Madrigal on Wednesday.
On the cusp of a second successive final and Barca's fifth in seven seasons, midfielder Sergio Busquets nevertheless spoke of this week's opposition with respect, per FourFourTwo:
"We're one step away from the final, and are motivated by the chance to qualify. Yes we have a slight advantage and that changes things, it will not be like games in the league or cup so far where teams close us down and try to counter-attack. That will benefit us. [But] Villarreal have got a strong squad, they all deserve respect.
"
Busquets is correct in asserting that the two-goal deficit will require the Yellow Submarine to come out of their comfort zone in the hunt for goals.
However, Villarreal come into Wednesday's fixture following a deserved 1-1 draw against league leaders Real Madrid. Los Blancos coach Paul Clement was quoted by Real Madrid TV presenter Phil Kitromilides hailing the quality of Marcelino's team:
Villarreal's defence sits among the best in La Liga at present, conceding only nine goals at home this season. However, a tally of 39 goals scored after 25 league games is almost half of that managed by Barca (70).
Sitting back and playing a possession game will undoubtedly work to Barcelona's advantage, but the desire for Luis Enrique's men to clinch an away goal and cement their final berth will ensure the Catalan titans aren't completely at ease.
Espanyol Eyeing All-Catalan Final

Espanyol haven't made it to the final of a Copa del Rey since winning the competition in 2006, when they beat another close rival of theirs, Real Zaragoza, 4-1.
Nine years on and Sergio Gonzalez's men can set up a derby encounter against Catalonia foes Barca, but the club bring mixed form into their midweek matchup.
Espanyol have won two of their three La Liga fixtures since drawing at San Mames in February, but have only managed to string together back-to-back wins on two occasions this term.
Sergio's side will look to build on last Friday's 1-0 win over Cordoba by defending what could turn out to be a pivotal away goal taken from their first leg against Athletic. Per Inside Spanish Football, the Espanyol boss conceded his team were perhaps complacent in the edgy victory over Cordoba, but denied that his men had one eye on Wednesday's second-leg tie:
"The players and coaching staff were all thinking of this match against Cordoba.. Where we let ourselves down was not being fully focused on our game. There were errors made by showing an excess of relaxation and over-confidence. All that matters is we won. It was a very complicated game against an opponent who are currently bottom and who were always going to give it everything they’ve got.
[Wednesday night] won’t have any similarities to this game we’ve just played. It’s a special encounter, we’re all enthusiastic and fired up. We’re going to need our fans backing us and hopefully it’ll be a great night.
"
Athletic also took a win from their most recent La Liga outing after a 1-0 triumph at Eibar on Sunday, but have two days' less rest than their semi-final opponents.
Mikel San Jose picked up his fifth booking of the season during that victory, but Inside Spanish Football reports the defender will be available for Wednesday's fixture, fortunately for Ernesto Valverde.

The Lions will once again look to Aritz Aduriz to provide some inspiration in front of goal, the forward currently joint-third in the competition's scoring ranks with his haul of four goals.
Valverde's side were held to a 0-0 stalemate in the away leg of their quarter-final tie with Malaga and are looking to reverse something of a hoodoo away from home, having scored only nine goals outside San Mames in La Liga this season.
