Manchester United Transfer News: Rumours on Radamel Falcao, Kevin De Bruyne
Radamel Falcao's future as a Manchester United player could be decided in the coming week, as super agent Jorge Mendes will reportedly meet with the Red Devils' decision makers to discuss the Colombian's potential permanent transfer.
According to the Daily Mirror's John Cross, Mendes could also discuss the future of another client of his—David De Gea:
"Radamel Falcao is heading for crunch talks over his Manchester United future.
Colombian striker Falcao's agent, Jorge Mendes, is due to hold top-level discussions with members of the Old Trafford hierarchy this week.
On-loan Monaco star Falcao has insisted he is fully fit after last year's cruciate knee injury that kept him out of the World Cup finals, but has privately admitted he is struggling for confidence and has not scored in his last four games.
[...]United are also talking to Mendes about extending Spanish keeper David De Gea's contract and are increasingly confident he will sign and stay.

Falcao joined United on loan from French side AS Monaco with an option to make the move permanent this summer, but he has struggled to make an impression on the Old Trafford faithful and the coaching staff alike.
One of the most prolific scorers in La Liga during his time with Atletico Madrid, the goals simply haven't followed him to England, via Not Match of the Day:
The 29-year-old was still recovering from a gruesome knee injury when he arrived at Old Trafford, and that certainly played its part. It takes time not just to regain fitness, but to go back to the level you played the game at before the knee got hurt. And, of course, there's always the risk the latter simply never happens.
As a result, opinion appears to be divided in the Colombia native and his future. The Guardian's Nooruddean Choudry is convinced there will be major changes to the club's attacking group next season:
On the other hand, FourFourTwo's Sam Pilger still believes in the forward:
Two factors will be key—money and Falcao's age. United won't just have to pay Monaco a hefty fee for his services, but he's also currently making £265,000 per week, according to Cross. And with the notorious Mendes as his agent, that likely won't change much.
He's also approaching the age of 30, and having undergone major reconstructive surgery on his knee already, Louis van Gaal has to wonder how much longer Falcao can be a world-class option up front before he start to deteriorate. And that's providing he returns to that form to begin with.
Meanwhile, Kevin de Bruyne has dismissed rumours he could be leaving Wolfsburg at the end of this season amid rumours linking him to Old Trafford, via the Daily Express' Anthony Chapman:
"The Belgium international has been linked with a Premier League return after developing into a top playmaker during his short Bundesliga career.
De Bruyne left Stamford Bridge over a year ago in an £18m deal after failing to impress Jose Mourinho, but has been a revelation at his new club.
Wolfsburg are second only to Bayern Munich in the league table, and reports claim that a £30m switch is on the cards this summer.
However, De Bruyne is adamant that he will not seek new pastures at the end of the season, telling journalists that he remains committed to his current team.
He revealed: "I never said I wanted to leave in the summer. In football terms, it would not be wise.
"I'm not one of those players who kisses the shirt and then leaves."
"
Like Chapman explains, the Belgium international only joined Wolfsburg at the start of the 2014-15 season after an unsuccessful spell with Chelsea. The Bundesliga side is very much in the ascendancy, making a switch unlikely from the start.
The 23-year-old has quickly become the heart and soul of Wolfsburg, dominating in midfield and contributing tremendously to the attack. As shared by The New York Times' Cristian Nyari, De Bruyne's sheer amount of assists is almost mind-blowing:
The latest round of transfer rumours was fueled by his admission that he wants to join a big club in Europe and win as much silverware as possible, via ITV Football; but De Bruyne was talking of his long-term future, not the end of the season:
It wouldn't be a shock to see the Belgian return to the Premier League in a few years—after all, he has a score to settle with Chelsea. But after languishing on the bench in West London for so long, it would be a surprise to see him walk away from a regular starting position for one of the Bundesliga's top sides.
United could certainly use someone like De Bruyne, but they'll have to be patient for now.
