Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Kentucky Wildcats Betting Preview, Game Stats

OddsShark.comFeb 26, 2015

A 28-game winning streak will be on the line for the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats Saturday afternoon as they continue their quest for an unbeaten season against a potentially tough challenger, the No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks.

The Wildcats have rolled through their season to the tune of 28-0 straight-up heading into their Saturday matinee against Arkansas, with their closest calls coming back in early January when they beat Ole Miss 89-86 in overtime and Texas A&M 70-64 in double overtime.

And recently the Wildcats have been simply pounding the competition, rolling off four straight huge victories over South Carolina (77-43), Tennessee (66-48), Auburn (110-75) and Mississippi State (74-56). That game against the Bulldogs was Wednesday night, with the Wildcats managing to cover the 17.5-point spread at sportsbook monitored by OddsShark.

Kentucky picked up the against the spread victory in all four of those big wins, a trend it'll be looking to continue as home favorites on the college basketball odds Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats, though, are just 15-12-1 ATS overall on the season and 9-8-1 ATS in home games. Kentucky has yet to be an underdog so far this year.

The Razorbacks are riding a comparatively modest seven-game SU winning streak into Saturday's matchup, which has them at 23-5 SU on the season. Arkansas, though, is also on a three-game ATS losing streak, which has it at just 14-13 on the betting lines this year. The Razorbacks are 4-1 ATS in five games as the underdog.

Arkansas is coming off an 81-75 win over Texas A&M Tuesday night in which it didn't manage to cover the 7.5-point spread at the sportsbook. The Razorbacks last lost back on January 31, when they were edged 57-56 on the road at Florida.

The Wildcats won't have recent betting trends on their side when they tip off against the Razorbacks on Saturday afternoon, with Kentucky 0-3 both SU and ATS in its last three games against Arkansas dating back to 2013, according to the OddsShark College Basketball Database.

Last year Arkansas topped Kentucky 87-85 at home as a 1.5-point favorite and 71-67 on the road as a 10-point underdog. The over/under split at 1-1 in those games for totals bettors; so far this season the over/under is 11-17 for the Wildcats and 14-12 for the Razorbacks.

If Kentucky beats Arkansas on Saturday afternoon it'll just have to navigate two more games to turn in a perfect regular season, as it plays on the road against Georgia on March 3 and at home against Florida on March 7. Arkansas' final two games of the year are on the road against South Carolina on March 5 and at home against LSU on March 7.
